oil gallery plug and modification of hole

on the 9## engine block, there is acess to the oil gallery through a plug hole. i'd like to install an accusump via that receptacle. would i be better off making a custom fitting, or drilling/threading that hole to accept a standard NPT fitting.

Brilliant idea.

Start engine.

Drill a series of holes into engine block.

Stop when oil sproats from one of said holes.

Tap hole for Accusump fitting

Fill unwated holes with JB Weld B)

the hole is already there. the question is the best way to attach an oil fitting to it. anybody? if i can't get an answer before midnight, wayne turns back into a pumpkin.

Why dont you just tee into the oil supply line for the turbo?

good idea wayne. that would work too, but not as efficiently as going straight in.

Russell probably has a suitably threaded fitting to go right in to that oil gallery.

I imagine the thread is NPT

does anyone know what thread that plug has? i can't remove it without first taking out the distributor, oil filter, and whatever else.

The HC engines have an water feed to the cam belt end of the head from the pwater ump which goes straight into one of the plug holes in the head. Not sure if it would work or is the same size plug but you could always get one from lotus and use that for the oil. Only a thought, not sure if it is suitable.

good idea. i'll have to find out the thread values, hopefully without disassembling my engine.
