Couple of questions...

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

First off I'll start with the engine cooling question. Driving down the highway the temperature is always at a steady 85-90 degrees and never moves off of that. My worry is when i'm in the city driving around at slow speeds and stop and go traffic, I watch the temperature guage rise to the 105 degree range before slowly coming back down. Wondering if this is normal or if this is a problem that should be resolved.

My other question pertains the the heater. Had the car out the other day, for the first time in awhile (working too much lately) and now that it is almost fall, it is cooling off out here. On the way home I turned on the heat. Nice hot air came out through the footwells and the defrost vents, however the side vents on the dashboard were blowing out, outdoor temperature air. Is this normal? What could be causing this problem? I would appreciate any incite anyone may have.

NORMAL!

My car stays at around 80 -90 during normal driving and then goes to 102 ish in traffic before coming back down when the fans cut in.I have seen it touch 105 on a 90degree day stuck in Friday afternoon traffic on the M25 but thats an extreme.

When I replaced an oil cooler on mine we cleaned the rad of debris which is a good idea.

The rads are not very well made so if it look srusty or clogged just replace it.Sensible money .

Hi all,

I think hot air is coming only from the windscreen and footwell vents. dashboard/side vents will distribute ambient or fresh air...
