Hi fellas,

Davin here. Just got round to registering on here. Basically kicked into it by Dermot suggesting we slowly wind-up the Yahoo Group. Still sort of trying to sell my Esprit, but still doing it slightly half-heartedly. Part of me doesn't want sell, but part of me knows it needs to go to a better home now.

A better home than what?

Have you been beating it? :)

Depriving it of love and attention :)

Making it wear a car bra? :):P

Thanks for the words of encouragement guys. The situation I am in is this: the car needs work to get it back into top condition. Mechanically it's great, as borne out by the fact that it's been my daily driver for 5 1/2 years! In all that time it's never let me down. The paintwork and interior need sorting out (respray and recover), and if I had it done, I'd want it garaged all the time, and for it to be a weekend car now. I can't justify spending cash only to go and leave it at the station every day again. As I have nowhere to keep it garaged, let alone space for another car anyway, I'm selling it with a view to moving house in the fairly near future. When I move, I'm going to have at least 2 garages (hopefully), and then I'll be in a position to buy another.

Hi Davin,

Welcome. It's a tricky one, taking into account the mileage, the cost for a respray could be as much as you get for the car (depending on where you go). Is the lacquer lifting? It's a bit crude, but if it's not and the paints just fading, you could try Colour Magic. A cheap way of covering up all end of sins.

The end of the road then :) .

Got it in one - the lacquer is lifting. Started off in the middle of the rear hatch, has now spread to the wing, the little roof bit behind the glass roof, A pillars and also the bonnet. :)

I know it's called Colour Magic, but I don't think even Gandalf could sort this out without a spray-gun.

Welcome Davin :P

For those of you that don't know, Davin created the UK Esprit Yahoo list.

As he said, this list is now going to be wound up as all the traffic comes

here. We all owe this guy (and Dermot) some thanks for i think beginning

the UK based Esprit Fora!

Thanks for being there at the very start Davin :P

no need for color magic. any oil or wax will darken faded paint. absorbs nicely into the pourous FRP too. you won't do much wiping up afters. i've applied an SPF 35 suntan cream to my esprit. the girl who bought the cream was livid. won't mention the brand though for previously stated reasons.

Dr Who has certainly gone downmarket!

(I shall avoid making the really obvious rhyming joke - you can all fill that one in for yourselves!)

Hi Davin,

Good to see you still have your esprit (so do i), they tend to become part of the family after so long. Shame to get rid of her but maybe you could buy it back (restored) in a couple of years! Anyway, cheers for being part of the success for the yahoo group.
