Charge coolers

Hi im a bit new to esprits (haven't even got one yet). I've seen a few 89 turbos with charge coolers, was this an option as there doesn't seem to be that many about?

They started appearing in '89 and were standard fit to all

4 cylinder Esprits right until the very last ones some ten

years later.

the chargecooler was fitted to the SE models and above, it depends what kind of performance figures you are looking for, even a non chargecooled turbo has a 0-60 of <5.6 seconds. and has one less pump to go wrong.
