Flushing cooling system

Has anyone got a good method for flushing the cooling system?

No, and I am due for this little bit of work. Bought cooant and distilled water today. Mostly I drain it down from the radiator while parked on a slight slope... stand around wondering why I chose to do it at all on the given day, cuss and swear a bit at having to contort to reach the drain plug... you get the idea.

Yeah - done my SE.

Takes a while mind you but it worked.

Basically I done it in 2 halves - 1st remove the drain plug from the rad and keep filling up with water until it runs clean.

Second plug everything up and disconnect the turbo to header tank hose and run the engine - i used warmish water here so the engine didn't get a cold shock - again it took a while, and it's a kinda 2 man job.

Keep freescan on as well to monitor the temp !

The best way really is to drain and refill regularly, if you carry out that eery so and often the crap is bound to come out over time.
