I know there is another thread running for Charlotte area owners, but thought I'd start a broader one for those in the Carolinas. Several of us in the Charlotte area are planning a meet before the end of the year. Do we have anybody else in the region?

If anybody in the Charlotte area is looking for somebody local to do work on their car, this is the gentleman I will be using. I met him at a recent gathering of exotics and he comes highly recommmended.

Ask for Jarod Brown. He is one of the owners.

How about we set something up for January? (assuming I have a running car by then!)

Given what I know of where everybody lives, I'd say meeting at the Peninsula Yacht Club in Cornelius would be relatively central to everybody and has ideal parking for the cars... Did I mention that I know a couple of the bartenders?

Speaking of January, looks like the Ferrari boys are planning a Fun-Run early in the month. As I said before, I've met this bunch and they a good folks and all makes are welcome. Assuming I can get my car fixed and back on the road (praying, pleading, begging) I will be going. If anybody is interested let me know and I'll forward details as they become available.

Hey Gang,

I trust everyone had a great Christmas - now all we have to do is survive New Year's and we're off n' running into '08!

Greg Owens, a 308 owner from the Triangle area, is organizing a run to Pinehurst on Saturday, January 5th. The plan is to leave so that everyone converges on the Pinehurst club around 10am.

We will then have lunch at the club and I've suggested a tour of Bjorn Nordemo's Sports Leicht (www.sportsleicht.com) restoration shop which is only a couple miles away. Bjorn himself owns an award-winning 330 GT and his shop does concours-level restorations on classic Mercedes, Jaguars, and so forth.

I will provide further details as we get closer.

Another meetup with The Ferrari club and the local British Car club is set for this Saturday. If anybody wants more details, please let know. Assuming I can get my car back together by then, I'll be there.

Hey Gang,

As most of you know, CAFE members Bob Sidi and Hector Castro recently took part in the Mille Miglia de Argentina driving a vintage Jaguar saloon car. This Saturday, they will regale us with their tales of adventure along with photos and video!

Midtown Sundries (Catawba Avenue in Cornelius)

Saturday the 19th

11am

I-77 to Exit 25

Go West passing Birkdale Village on Right

Take a right on Catawba Avenue

Midtown Sundries will be a ways down on the Left

A number of folks from the Lake Norman British Car group should be there as well so it should be an interesting parking lot!

See ya then...

Looks like we may get rained out for Saturday.

I see another Charlotte Esprit owner posting here lately. Not sure how many that makes all together, but we could have a decent size group if we could all meet up someday.

The event was postponed until next weekend due to weather. If anybody is interested, let me know and I'll pass on the details. I did meet up with a couple of the guys and got to tour some spectacular shops. See my thread in the general motoring section for pictures.

That's good news. With the weather forecast being so bad, I got committed to doing something else. Turns out the weather wasn't so bad after all but it means I shall be able to go next week.

Now to go to the General Motoring Thread to find those pictures. :)

It worked out well for me as I have Monday off and hope to get the car back on the road by then. I'll post the details of next weekends' event as sson as I get them. The gentleman I met today just got back from a rally in Argentinia in which they used a vintage Jag saloon. They will be bringing pics and amovies from the event to show everybody. Some of the stories I heard today were amazing...

I hope we see you there! If the weather is good, I am probably going to take some folks out on the boat afterwards if you are interested.

Should you evern need your Lotus towed in the Charlotte area, please call Fred at Dixie Auto & Wrecker. Fred is the owner and specializes in high end cars. The Porche factory has him signed as their exclusive hauler in the area and after he dropped my car off he was going to pickup a fezbo. He put mine on the truck with what was obviously an expert touch. He works with Jarod at Automotive Industries all the time, so he can even have his bill just added onto Jarods.

Yep. they are also the ones that turned me onto Dixie towing. I just posted some pics of the tow in the alternator thread. I con't wait to get her back. I'd like to take her up to Midtown on Saturday for the Ferrari/Brit car meetup but, if the weather is real bad, I'll probably bring the daily driver.

fingers crossed!

I'll be there, most likely with the Esprit. USAndretti had mentioned coming, but I don't know for sure. As far as the yellow S1, the owner will be there as he's presenting some pics and moviews his recent trip to Argentia to compete in the Mille Miglia de Argentina 2007 in a vintage Jag. I'm not sure which car he'll bring but would guess it won't be the Esprit - he'll have to move 4 other cars to get it out! He'll probably be in the e-type or a 930 slant-nose.

Either way, assuming the weather holds, I'm expecting a decent turnout of Jags, MG's, Austin Healey's, Ferrari's, etc. I look forward to meeting you and will keep my eye out for you!

Oh, if any of you are interested in the Mille Miglia de Argentina

clicky!
