Clutch, what is the correct bleeding procedure?

My 99 V8 had been slowly losing freeplay when the clutch pedal was to the floor. I was told to just do a simple bleeding of the system...I attempted this simple procedure and now have no clutch, and can't get any pressure back.

Where am I going wrong?

Thanks

Have you been making sure that you have enough fluid in the reservoir to bleed the system properly?

have you been doing the pump 3 times and then hold and release the bleeder valve as you hold?

Modifying esprit's.. now that's fun..

On the later V8's, it shares the same fluid as the brake master cylinder except it's fluid is branched off quite high up the reservoir. It's easy not to notice this and it doesn't take many pumps of the pedal before the level drops below this line and your sucking in air!!

I think it's about 2-3 max then you need to keep topping up.

Thanks Dave...your post helped me fix the problem last night. I had a pin hole in one of the flexable rear break lines that caused the low fluid level.
