Anyone got a rear light cluster 2 sell?

alan

Recommended Posts

Guys,

For the second time in a year my Wife has managed to reverse her BMW X5 into my Esprit - there must be something about the beep beep noise the parking sensors make she can not understand :) Fortunately both times the Esprit came away with almost no damage..

Anyway the only damage this time is the rear light cluster on the passenger side - does anyone have one to sell (perhaps after upgrading to round lights).

Thanks

Alan

PS Bit of a long shot on this forum but also need a tailgate & both passenger side light clusters for a BMW X5

Alan i know what you mean, its really hard to find a used Toyota taillight from that area in the net. Does anyone know the exact Celica/(or what ever) Modelyear/version ??

As the *youngtimer* cars frome the 80th come into attraction of some maybe there is a cheaper aftermarket reproduction series !?

PS. Who knows were i can find the "black smoked" Toyota-Lights seen on several English Esprits ? Or is 'painting them' the only way to get, as this definitely is not legal in the eyes of German police!

See Kylie's post. I know Lotus are prob the only supplier with a half decent stock. They have federal and UK and they have been on offer. Don't know if they still are. I got one myslef to swap for an older discoloured one that was on my car.

but as it is a Toyota part why should i pay Lotus, you know what i mean !?

I'm a mad mechanic , grown up in the east system, so there is always a *get it cheap and even cheaper* thinking in my mind... .

(same reason why i use interior parts from a disassembled Rover 25/200 and so on..)

haha i see'

Guys, thanks for all the help - I will get in contact with Lotus to see if they still have any. Does anyone know which number to call / who to ask?

RENS

As anyone here who is married will understand the accident is obviously my fault. This is despite

1. I was 40 miles away at the time

2. My wife did not wait for the windows to defrost so could not see out the back

3. I can only assume she had the music so loud she could not heasr the parking sensors

4. The Esprit has been parked in exactly the same spot for 2 weeks (but to be fair it is bright yellow so does tend to blend in / be very difficult to notice...)

If it was not for the fact I have to fix both cars it would be funny. On both occasions the spoiler on the S4s took the impact with no damage other than a tiny paint chip. The second time the light cluster smashed as well. The rear of the X5 however on both occasions looks a real mess. Its not even worth posting a photo of the damage on the Esprit as you need to be a couple of inches away to see the damage - its now Lotus 2 BMW 0.

Here is the damage on the X5 - as you can see its not serious but will be expensive as it includes both light clusters and also both the top and bottom parts of the tailgate

But you need a new tailgate on the BMW! :)

:) Lotus :)

I expect that if madame reverses her Landrover into the esprit one day it will be my fault too, for buying a car that is too low to see.

Years back we had a secretary at work who made a habit of reversing her 4x4 into cars in the carpark.

After she scraped the chairmans Jaguar we dropped a subtle hint and completely wrapped her car in 100m of bubblewrap - nearly a foot thick.

She got the hint after that.

If in doubt call 01953 608000 and ask for Neil lovelock or his team.

Hi Ian,

I can supply clear indicators for the rears only, not smoked. Due to limited market, I wasn't prepared to experiment with smoked ones.

There are only two places worldwide where you can get these from, me and Protocast (was reprocast0 in Sweden.

I used to have lots of spare bits of light clusters but I gave the last pair of perfect rear units to PNM a few weeks ago. He only needed one but I don't know which side.

Problem with the parts sale is that some companies are still charging more second hand than they are new!

Regards,

Dave Walters

Could be wrong but I think Superdave could get/locate the smoke tinted rear light clusters at one time (hope I'm not wrong) Try sending a PM.

Hi Gunter,

The Toyota light is from a Corolla Coupe 86 which weren't that common then. There are no aftermarket companies out there making rear light cluster for this car. I know because I've spent the last few years making several enquiries.

That's why I have made the rear clear indicators which are hand cast due to limited numbers.

If I had lots of people (I mean hundreds) then I could try the far east or Eastern Europe and have them made for peanuts.

But with only half a dozen owners wanting these per year then they have to made made by hand the hard way and it's slow and expensive.

If you find another company from China or Taiwan who make these then I'd be happy to buy them from you.

Regards,

Dave Walters

My old boss had an X5, then an ML320 and now an XC-90. The X5 had every panel bar the roof repaired from crashes and dings in a year, the ML was pinched and the XC-90 lasted a week until 2 doors (one either side) were damaged in the company car park. You'd think she would learn!

Alan, put one of these behind the Esprit...
