e5pritV8 0 Report post Posted December 14, 2007 Hi guys, I just bought an EZ 4000 Scanner (Thanks to Marcus @PUK Esprit),it pulled these 2 codes P0462 and P1462. P0462 is "Fuel level sensor circuit low input",I don't know what P1462 is for its no in the workshop manual does any one know what could be the problem . FYI the car is USA spec, and the problem I have is that the car has a strange surge in power at low RPM's most of the time. I think it has something to do with fuel, any Ideas?? MGFCrasher 0 Report post Posted December 15, 2007 (edited) From my Gendan software that I used with the sport 350; Plugging in 1997 V8 PO462 - Fuel Level Sensor A current Low, PO1462 - Maunufacturers control Auxiliary Emission controls. I also had the software where you plug into the laptop, that would often tell you more than a hand held scanner. Reset the codes if the car is running ok .The V8's do sometimes have a small surge in the revs at low RPM .Try alos resetting the ECU .I used to have to do mine in the summer and winter for some bizarre reason. Maybe the temp affected the way the tickover was erratic. If they come back ,sounds like a fuel issue but I would say a dealer is your best bet. Guest Troy Halliday Report post Posted December 16, 2007 My Genden system comes up with P1462 - Evaporative Emission Control System Preasure Sensor Low input So I would check the solenoid on the top of the charcoal canister. P0462 - Fuel Level Sensor Circuit Low Input
Günter 27 1 Vehicles Report post Posted December 16, 2007 (edited) "...what is this code P0452 ?" see above! "..I think it might be the MAF needs cleaning." The V8 uses a Baro-and a MAP-sensor, no heated airflow sensor [MAF] like in the Bosch-Motronic systems. There is nothing to clean up.. "...I am almost the only Esprit owner there" a known feeling... "...thank you very much for the help every body.." it's a pleasure to be in that community.. PS. the interpretation of P1xxx codes depend on the settings or possibilities of your code reader-system. It is related to the car manufacturer, P0xxx codes are determined under the laws of the SAE organisation... . Paula&Marcus 0 Report post Posted December 17, 2007 Hi Sofrata, P0462 is a so called odd code, because it should not come on logic wise ... It only comes on with MY96 and MY97 cars, that got a newer ECU-software installed and donot have a fuel level sensor installed. The fuel level sensor is not installed from factory in most MY96 and MY97 cars. Its very easy to get this rectified: Just look out for ECU-PIN-16. This PIN 16 is the one which is connected to the fuel-level-sensor in the (later) V8s. If yours is not connected, you just have to use a 47-200 Ohm resistor and put one end on PIN 16 and the other end on earth (= 0V) BTW, we do this inside the ECU with all MY96-97 cars when they get chip upgrades to newer versions. e5pritV8 0 Report post Posted December 21, 2007 Hi Guys The surge issue -it feel like a lack of fuel delivery from 2k rpm to 3.5k rpm- is very strange  , yesterday I had the smoothest ride since I got the car no surge no nothing , today it is back again . Do you think this has to do with the P1462 (Evaporative Emission Control System Pressure Sensor Low input)? If yes, what do you think I should do? Thanks
Günter 27 1 Vehicles Report post Posted December 21, 2007 EVAP is engaged in a defined range of RPM and Load (normally) so it may be no wounder that it only occurs in some rpm areas. PM - Marcus, he has all program data of the several ECM modules and can tell you witch type of ecm uses those Evap mappings.
