SE Fog Lights

Recommended Posts

Hi. Just joined this forum as I used to use Pistonheads (still do) but would like to support this one as well.

My 89 SE has a broken front fog lamp and new ones seem a tad expensive!

"Hella 18212R19"

I have searched and e-bayed but "Lotusguy" outbid me for the last ones I found. Any known sources?

Were they fitted to anything else? (Small square ones not the rectangular ones).

And while I'm on, what are the earliest surviving SE's? Mine is 11th built so must be one of the earliest. It has also got "Eagle" tyres but not for long so I will have to update. Why did they stop making the Eagles for the Esprit?

Cheers

Scotty2

One of mine was broken so both have been removed for now meaning that somewhere in the garage I've got one working foglight! You're welcome to it if you like?

As part of the overhaul he did, Lottie's interim owner fitted generic round fogs. Sounds bad - round peg in a square hole - but I actually think they look great. Dunno where they're from - but they have a self-contained mounting bracket. Probably from Demon Tweeks or similar?

Bibs kindly let me have the other one so i was able to make 1 good one out of 2 bad. Unfortunatly the insides of both were shot so after literally hours of trawling the internet the only ones that will go in the hole are these.

Just a warning. Do Not use the above ebay seller, i have only just got my money back after starting a dispute. Turns out they were out of stock but he took my money anyway. He never had any intention of sending them and never replyed to any emails. The search continues.

My fogs are working ok and are not rusted but the glass is pitted with small shallow chips which gives them a dull appearance.

Does anyone know if it is possible to polish the surface of the lenses which are made of glass to take the chips out?

Sounds a bit laborious, but might be an option because replacements are expensive/unavailable.
