Temperature.....Which one do I go by?

Recommended Posts

I have 2 temp guages. Do I go by the oil temp or water temp when determining if the car is "up to temp"?

Also, has anyone compiled a list of places in U.S. where I can order parts?

Which parts dealer(s) is/are the best (price and/or service)?

Is the cam belt the same as a timing belt?

I am a complete idiot when it comes to cars, but I'm about to learn a lot now I have a car that I am interested in.

I can't find the transmission oil anywhere. Where can I find it?

There are many vendors - and cross-reference parts lists (that cross lotus parts to regular parts)

This forum has a x-listing pinned at the top -> http://www.lotusespritforum.com/forums/ind...?showtopic=1434

as far as part vendors:

P.U.K Esprit Racing - http://freudhoefer.de/lotus/esprit/

Ramspott&Brandt - www.ramspott-brandt.de/

WC Engineering - http://www.wcengineering.com/

Dave Bean Engineering - http://www.davebean.com/

JAE - http://www.jaeparts.com/

SJ Sports Cars - http://www.sjsportscars.co.uk/

Espritism - http://www.espritism.com/

pnm engineering - http://www.pnmengineering.com/

new one - Lotus Garage - http://66.34.224.165/shop/index.php?l=product_list&c=6

Esprit Engineering - http://www.espritengineering.co.uk/

On the temp - the coolant temp is what you usually see in a regular car as temp - but before pushing the car hard - have both in the 'normal' range.

The cam belt is the timing belt - these cars use a rubber belt instead of the more common timing chain.

The correct coolant temp is 82c , the ECU will only let turbo run a full pressure when the coolant temp is between 79c and 110c

tjp. transmission oil does have a dip stick , you would have to check by removing fill plug. jpspeedy
