1988 Esprit NA HC: Petrol Station Issues

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Recently, each time I go to a petrol station and put petrol in my Esprit, when I get back in my car and try and start the car it takes a good couple of minutes of attempts for it to start. Otherwise it starts first time even in the cold when I have left it all week, so must be something to do with putting petrol in it.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Richard

Hi Richard,

I see this is your first post. Welcome to the forum.

Sounds odd. Occasionally when the cars hot / had a good run, they can take a while to start. Are you pressing the accelerater pedal when starting it? They can flood.

Or the old problem, petrol in the carbs vaporising due to heat, when you stop for petrol it's normally only a few mins, but if you leave it longer the issue goes as the pump can re-fill the float chambers etc.
