Stevens Parts Cross References

Recommended Posts

Hello Ian

S J still list them, haven't asked about stock. £123 plus the dreaded.

https://www.sjsportscars.co.uk/index.php?mod=10&car=13&section=12

That's going to be one hell of a trawl to find an alternative if it's a Lotus only part...

But happy to have a bash at it if necessary :-)

If Deroure lists parts as obsolete, then I reckon that's what they are. SJ does list parts that aren't in stock, as I've discovered, and they then place an order on the factory. That fine, as long as the parts are available, of course.

I reckon this one is likely to come up again in the near future, as arms start wearing out. Another one in the same vein is the alloy plate that I refurbished for Sparky a few weeks ago, A082M5086F, they're on "back order". I don't know whether this means they're on they're way out, but if it's anything like the S4s clutch pressure-plate saga I had last year, where I got the same message, and after 4 months gave up hope and went a different route, I reckon I'd still have been waiting for one now!

Margate Exotics.

Is the depth of the regulator case the same as the old one? Every time I bought a replacement, they seemed to get fatter and fatter. Fortunately, there is a cutout in the engine intake plenum to allow fitment (but the fit was getting tighter and tighter)

Cheers

Ian.

Picked up one of these voltage regulators when in the UK last month.  The original? one on my car had leaked all its potting material a couple of years ago due to overheating and I'd not got around to fixing it.  The really good news is that random erroneous ABS and coolant warning lights have stopped since I installed the new one. So I wonder if they were due to poor voltage regulation now. Anyway Paul, thanks for chasing these parts down. 8 pounds 50 plus an hour or so of my labour is a cheap fix.

There's lots of things I need to try Barry:

Suborbital flight with Virgin Galactic
A hot sweaty night with Kylie
Drinking Cheshire Chocolate Porter until I can no longer see
Swimming in a cage surrounded by sharks
Eating beef fillet steak in a hot tub
Having a full body massage from Madonna
WOT and nearly 180mph on the Autobahn in the V8
Buying a pair of proper patent leather shoes in Northampton
Emigrating to somewhere it doesn't rain much and I can ride my motorbikes in the sunshine
Getting seriously drunk with Chillidoggy
My one and only £1 Premium Bond finally coming up after 50 years
Getting progressively deaf in my later years such that I can wind my Technics separates in the lounge up to full volume and FEEL the music

Trying an S4? Erm nope, it doesn't seem to appear on that list...

Number 2 is way more likely than number 1.

British Fart to Florida, Nude to New York, Dunce to Denmark, Numpty to Newfoundland.  And Shitfaced Silly Sod to Sweden.

Looking for a left hand door latch replacement for a S4s.

Hello @Beinmymirror, not sure how available they are in the States but it is a pretty standard GM Europe part and was used on:

Vauxhall Astra 1992 - 1998
Vauxhall Calibra
Vauxhall Cavalier 1989 - 1995
Vauxhall Corsa 1993 - 2001
Vauxhall Tigra 1993 - 2001

And the Opel equivalents over the Channel of course. eBay is probably your best bet.

Applies to S4, S4s and V8 btw.

Did you check with SJSportscars. I think they have one.

Yes, I have checked on them.  It costs me 98 pound including shipping to Thailand.  So, it is quite costly.  Do you have any alternative from other cars?

Ebay, no luck at all.

I found one for Elan.  It does look like but I am not sure if it can be use with Esprit SE.

That's what I thought (assuming you mean S4 not S3 which was G-body) but some non-UK photos of SE interiors seem to show the GM stalks unless they've been retro-fitted.

I can confirm the early SE uses the old BL stalk, which I actually prefer. I think the change was made in 1992/1993 along with other changes to the interior. Maybe from the highwing on?

I have made many mistakes in my life. Buying a multiple Lotus is not one of them.
