In short, yes. The ignition key is a long one, the door lock keys are shorter. Can't add much to that.

Don't know about the 88's but my 89 needed new door keys and I found a key blank at a lock and key store and they work perfectly. I believe the ignition key is a Toyota key blank, that's what I used for my spare and it works perfectly.

I had the same problem. If you don't know the key code, you have to go via a Lotus dealer. They send off an archive search request to Lotus to get the code, then get the key cut themselves. I tried going to Lotus direct, but they would only do it through a dealer.

Is there a way the dealer can make a set for my car?

If so ,would you receive keys identical to the originals?

Probably easier fitting a nice new shiny set of door handles, you get keys with them and they're easy to fit.

There's a good guide to removing your door trim on LEW's site.

I bought a set last year as my driver's door handle snapped.

We can get them here in the UK for
