Hi Robert and welcome to LEF.

There are a few members on here from your neck of the woods who could recommend somewhere local or if you really want to travel as a member of LEF you get a very good deal at the factory or I could recommend Lotus Esprit Restorations in Sevenoaks in Kent :)

I agree with Bibs. It may be worth a trip down to use the factory (imagine getting any work done by those who built it!) I know we have a special hourly rate with them. Also look up Troy, who's a moderator and owns Esprit Restorations.

Otherwise I'm sure you're about to get lots of suggestions in this thread.

Thanks,

You are in the same boat as the rest up here if you want an experienced specialist. I heard there was a factory trained guy in Newcastle but never found him.

The main dealers are OK but are starting to get pricey, and are quite open in stating they really hate working on Esprits - so why take it where it's not wanted?

At the minute I'm contemplating going to Matty's and making a day of it, but what happens if it needs a major part?

In the garage no-one can hear you scream

which service is ita / b / c

I am wanting to carry out a 'C' service as it has 46,000 miles on it and had the belts changed at 30,000 miles, which was over two years ago now.

I thought about going down to Paul Mattys myself, but i know it will proabably be a couple of days round trip. I have seen there is a specialist in Merseyside which is nearer, but again i am just going of what i have read!!

It's PNM Engineering in Merseyside and they have an excellent and well deserved reputation for Esprit work.

Definitely worth travelling then, and make some enquiries, the difference in price can be hundreds of pounds.

Only had massive help and great advice from PNM.And thats on both G shape cars at late ones.

However like all good advice the owner can take it or leave it. You can't force some owners to have work done and Petes not into that.

There are lots of good People out there but I would definitely advise against going to a non Lotus person.Plus you will usually find out it will be cheaper if you get the correct advice in the first place.

Hi Rob, reckon that owning an Esprit is easy but finding someone who you can"trust" to work on it is the hard part. Through personal experience over the 15 years of owning mine, I like the way that the person I speak to is the same person who does the work on my car, so there is no misunderstanding of the work done and that he is soley responsibe for my car when it is in his care. These people are few and far between, but if you share the same views as me then phone Gerald at GST Performance, Newmarket area. 01638661144.

PS. dont tell anyone else as he's a busy chap and I need to book mine in for a cambelt change.
