Changing injectors and fuel filter

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Are there any diagrams on how to change the injectors and the fuel filter? Is it something that can be done DIY?

Cheers,

John

Hey John,

You planning to put those RC Injectors in?

Changing both should be very straight-foward.

The key to messing with the fuel is to release the pressure on the rails and system before you start undoing anything. This is covered in the manual for example, to replace the fuel pressure regulator.

Once you

Hey Mike,

You're spot on there mate. I can't wait lol. In fact, I was meant to have them installed by a garage this week, but they are too busy.

I could get it done next week, but I'm away for the weekend and fancy the cruise, lol.

That would be fantastic if you have the info. Can it be posted?

Is there a workshop manual I can purchase, from Halfords, or an online version etc? Most importantly, by tomorrow lol.

Make sure you lightly lube the o-rings with clean engine oil.

And make sure the plenum injector o-rings get seated correctly. I know a few V8 owners who had massive fuel leaks due to that.

Thanks for the advice lads. Although, if I try to put the injectors in upside down, I have no right lifting the bonnet lol.

Mike,

I don't men to be a pain in the butt, but I'm guessing I won't be able to purchase the manual today.

Is there any chanc e you could fax the pages for me? It would really help me out and put my mind at rest.

Does the plenum gasket need sealant or best left alone?

John

You have PM.

You should be fine to re-use the plenum gasket unless it is damaged. If it is damaged, then I have a spare that I can send you ;-))

Cheers,

Mike S

What's best to use as a plug?

I'm soooo sad. That fax had to be sent to my GF at her work, because mine has gone wrong. So now she has to scan it and e-mail lol.

Nothing is ever simple with me!!

I would suggest a clean soft cotton rag .... even a clean sock ;-))

If it has to be clean I'll need to buy a new pair lol.

Is that to sop dust or fuel?

The fax quality is superp. Thank you.

My ECM is on the right when facing the engine from the rear.

Regards,

Peter.

If I'm stood at the rear facing the engine, my fuel filler is on the left. But I thought the ECM was on the right?

Yes....... forget the fuel filler...... the filter is on the same side as the ECU.

Yep, just found the filter. :D

There is a big connector plug leading to where the fuel pumps are' Under the fuel filter on that diagram? If so can I disconnect that plug to turn the power off to the fuel pumps?
