Break of cambelt and valves

Recommended Posts

Hello!

My name is Riccardo,I'm Italian and I never wrote in this forum before.

I have a lotus esprit 2.0 S4s (1997) with Engine Type 920.

Because of a failure I broke cambelt and all valves.

Since original valves are rather expensive,I'd like to know if they can be replaced with not original ones.

Otherwise,do you know any dealer (European or not) that can make specialprice?

Have you any suggests to reassemble the engine without cause damage?

Thank you very much!

Riccardo

If he was just parking and at low revs then he may be lucky and not have broken all the valves has he already pulle the head?

Yes, I' ve just removed the head and it seems that the valves are all broken!!

Are exhaust and inlet valves sodium ones?

Regards Riccardo

Thanks for the pic, not having any luck there.

I guess you are saying the valves are bent? How was this checked - or was it obvious looking at the valve in the head?

Quick other question - how are the pistons? I would guess that there should be some marks.

My Lotus guy in Melbourne has developed after-market valves. Here is his website: http://www.elanfactory.com.au/

Drop him an e-mail and see what he can do.

Yes the Exhaust valves are sodium filled, but the intake valves are not.
