Location of Earth connections

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Does anyone have a list/diagram of all the major Earth connections. I'm hoping to spend the weekend removing and cleaning them all up.

Thanks all,

John

Not 100% sure on the V8, but if they are anything like the 4Pot (which they probably are) the main neutral you want to check is the one on the rear beam of the chassis. As I say on the 4 banger there s a welded thred running vertical, on the horizontal tubular part of the chassis underneath the divers side air filter box - have a look there.

Easiest way to spot it would be to identify the large black cable running from the engine block and chase that back to the chassis point.

At the same time do the red cable feeding the starter (starter only has 2 cables going to it - a little one and larger one) - diconnect the battery 1st and give them a good clean up with a scouring pad / wire brush so they are nice and shiney - then smear a light oil over the threads and connections which will stop them corroding. Try and use new nuts/washers as well and it should make for a better start on the car.

Also there are two ground points in the interior - one behind each A-pillar cover
