My dreaded distributor problem

Recommended Posts

I am still trying to locate a Lucas 43DM4 distributor for my 1985 2.2 Turbo Esprit, but a friend of mine has kindly donated a 45DM4 from a 1988 Esprit 2.2 Turbo, all I need to know now is, Is this one compatible? It certainly fits OK or is it just wishful thinking on my part?

The 45dm5 is a vacuum advance type...the 43 is a mechanical advance.

Whats wrong with the 43? There usually not much that can go wrong with these.. usually dodgy wiring....

“The parts falling from this car are examples of the finest British craftsmanship”

Recommended procedure before taking on a repair of Lucas equipment: Check the position of the stars, kill a chicken and walk three times clockwise around your car chanting:" Oh mighty Prince of Darkness protect your unworthy servant.."
