Blanking off 1 fuel tank

Recommended Posts

I'm another victim of an Esprit ('88 Turbo) with a leaking fuel tank.

It's the passenger side that is leaking, The fuel pump runs of the drivers side so that will not be a problem.

Are there any other issues that I should be wary of ?

Or is it as simple as just draining and then blanking it off via the balance pipe. (I realise that there will be weight bias to the one-side.).

Which tank is the fuel sender in ?

Thanks in advance.

I think, if your Esprit TUrbo 88 with Cab. the fuel sender will be right side !

I replaced both fuel tanks few years ago. I started with left side and temp. drained (the balance pipe) as you suggested.

Yes, fuel sender is on the right side. The let hand tank is literally just the tank on the '88.

you will have a weight imbalance as you say.. But I suppose it's a quick fix if you have a leaky tank, until you can repair or replace it.

You'll need to block off the balancing breather pipe as well.. the bit of fish tank hose that runs along the top of the rear window.

Thanks guys, all sorted and back on the road. :)

Now I just have to find a few spare days to remove & sort out the leaking tank before the good one starts to leak. :)

I think the left hand one is the tricky one to get out as well!

It would be wouldn't it. :crybaby:

No doubt I'll keep putting it off until I 'need' to do it then. :(
