Hi-wing off SE

Recommended Posts

I was thinking about chaging the low-mounted rear wing on my esprit to a high mounted one...like the ones fitted to say a 92 model year SE turbo.

...for no particular reason other than I think they look quite good.

My questions though:

1) I've heard people often take the high mounted ones off...why? Maybe they hinder rear vision? ...it'd be hard to think how you could make it worse than it is tho!

2) Anyone got one for sale?

Cheers, Si

I've got one, took it off because I think they hidious, the rear vission is no better without it, mirror sights under it.

It's hanging on my garage wall in Coffs Harbour. I'll find a picture of when I first had the car with it on.

the stock SE wing looks like it came off of a fiero.... i replaced my 1991 wing with a wing for a countach it didn't block any rear vissability and it made the car look like a real exotic sports car e-mail me and i'll send you some pics [email protected]

You are talking, specifically of the "High Wing" model. It takes a while to grow on you but that was my second choice if I couldn't get an S4. I like it.

Not a mark on it, just don't like it.

Or there's the 'Starship Enterprise' job. It has taken a while but it has grown on me. Rear visibility is good as it's more or less the same height as the rear window.

I'm sure I saw these listed on the last Lotus parts sale...

Wait a second, thats the late model V8 wing. The high wing, at least as descried by Lotus is the "Star Trek" one as discussed before. Where can one pick up one of those V8 wings over in the US? I am looking to install one on my newly remodeled Esprit.

I'm in Australia so I can't really help, the freight from here would be huge, but the colour match looks good!

It was the 'starship enterprise' jobby I was actually thinking of. I saw supports for this style of wing in the last lotus parts sale, but no wing...so thought my best bet might be to try and find someone who had removed theirs.

...so still looking

cheers, Si
