Good news on selling the car Mike.

Surely Lotus could have issued an EU certificate of conformity for a Sport 350?

I did seriously consider one, got insurance quotes too. Considering that no-one had ever heard of the S350 - let alone what one looked like - you may have gotten away with it :)

(No-one ever checked my V8 on import.....)

Thanks !

As you say, there is not a problem getting a EU C of C, but the problem is getting the car pass the checks. I

Now with the EU CofC you can just walk into the prefecture and register the car, no inspections or checks. Just need a controle technique less than 6 months old.

Looking at all the "tuning" cars around here, aka voiture de chav, the GT1 rep is not going to look that extreme - believe me. :(

Mike, have you heard something about the ADAC car license ? Have seen so many not German legalized Skylines (driven by local car nuts) in Werneuchen drag race last time. I guess there is no T

Hey Fred,

The car is always advertised for sale...... it gives me options if someone genuine really wants the car.

Just like, I

as you know, if i have a plan -than i have a plan B)

#update#

Mike, i was there today and the man on the counter told me:

In general it is legal to drive a car with GB registration in Europe (for example Germany) if the car is registered in name of an GB citizen. So that means all MOT/tax regularity's are still under the laws of GB. If the car insurance does not cover the Europe mainland , or Germany (that for example was the same for us , as several German insurance company's have not allowed to drive an German car in Poland....) than you can buy an „Grenzversicherung“ as soon as you pass the border to Europe-or in GB at the check point. My guess is that is the 100Euros per moth insurance i have heard of. The ADAC told me this covers only the so called „Haftpflicht-Versicherung“ (any harm you do an other person/car , it does not cover accidents on your own car -if you have caused them !)

My interpretation of that all: If it is legal in GB to register an car in name of an other (GB based) person, and an other person can drive it. Than ask your parents, or friends if someone wants to help you out. Register the car in GB. MOT and tax is as it ever was. The car insurance is stretched across Germany by the Grenzversicherung -and none cares that your own home-base is now in Germany.
