Can any one point me in the right direction.

I have just bought a 97 GT3 that has had fire damage to the lh wing and bumper

Ive tried the breakers yards without much luck , so its going to have to be new parts. Lotus can supply the parts but at a price, who else?, where else?

Please help

Are you talking about the front or rear? If it is the front then the one at the breakers probably won't be much cop, but the rear of it from what I remember is pretty good - it is also fitted with a twin exit exhaust.

Paul, can you post some pics of the damage you have so we can make a better suggestion?

'Wing' on an Esprit can mean many different types of repair depending on where the damage is, how bad it is etc.

My God! That's serious body repair needed. :) I can only see you getting a part like that from Lotus, bumpers and spoilers are one thing, but thats a major body panel and laminating job. I've repaired a few fibreglass cars in my time, but never seen one as bad as that, most have been crushed and just crazed, but never seen a fire one.

Owen.

Can only image what the car that was torched looked liked! But you'd think they'd have the decency not to do it beside an Esprit...

What insurance category is it?

Clarkson: Why?

May: Cause it's the tool of a pikey.

Wasn't there only 2 or 3 in that shade of green? One is an insurance job already and was hawked around ebay for ages, one lives on these forums, and one other belonged to Chris the Greek chap (forget his second name) who disappeared a while back (and was the Lotus press car in various magazines). What's the reg?

Chris the Greek was called Tony Argyrou, the colour of the car is Medina Green and it's very rare. Nice bloke apart from his habit of calling his car 'The Saveloy'!

Here's a pic of him and car in 2004. Look at the price of petrol!

I've got a front bumper and bib off an S4 which I think is the same if your interested?

It needs some fibre glassing or plastic welding of a couple cracks but that should be a big deal for a body place.

PS welcome to the medina green club!!!

The old memory has turned to shit these days, I had Chris Constinou in my head for some reason! He disappeared rather abruptly (as so many do on here!), often wondered what happened to his motor, it was well kept.

:):) at the price of petrol!

As luck would have it I've just been to visit a GT3 which had an engine fire 3/4 year ago and has been in storage since. They guy has a complete bodyshell too but I it looks like an early Stephens one.

I'll pop up some pics shortly and have to speak to him later today about his plans for the car.

Hi All,

It's my old Green GT3. I had parked the car around the back of a friends place over night. I came back to find someone had parked an old Ford Escort next to it and torched it. Very sad day indeed for me.

I have all of the history for the car if you need it. I also have a few bits for it.

The Car was indeed the Lotus Press car, P859 RVG was the reg and I have the mags with it in.

The Colour is B27 Electric Green not B29 that is on the label. I have a half a liter of the paint if you need it.

However please check and double check the front left of the chassis as I was there when the yanked it onto the pickup truck and they were not gentle about it !!

Dan

PS. This is what she looked like before...
