Door latch mechanism

Recommended Posts

I've been doing running repairs to that [email protected] door mechanism for months now!. I get it to work then it won't and I get locked out!

The handle part seems OK but I suspect the rods, wheels, springs, and general connection to the door latch is just worn out and beyond adjustable tolerances.

Is the mechanism just std Rover parts as well. I know the only thing working, the handle is off a rover classic and others.

Hi Robert

I don't think Austin Allegros are very thick on the ground this part of the world, but saw an oldish Range Rover on my work this morning and remembered that the door handles are exactly the same.

Try finding a Land Rover scrapyard and see what turns up is my suggestion... No harm in trying and if you've had the locks apart a few times, you should be able to recognize if it's the same or not.

Let us know how you get on ;)
