Freescan

Recommended Posts

Sorry about this. Newbie question.

I have seen Freescan on Dermot O'Hares website and Andy Whittakers after seeing it mentioned on here quite a bit. Are they collaborating or do they each have a program called the same thing? The next simple question is does it work on a Mac and if (oops, when) I buy an esprit (and I will be doing most of my own work on it) do I need it? I saw something somewhere on here about a cable for Freescan and a Mac driver for the cable but I have not been able to find a reference to Freescan being ported to the Mac.

Thanks guys (shorthand non-gender based term AFAIC)

Michael.

All we know is that when they stop making this, we will be properly, properly sad.Jeremy Clarkson on the Esprit.

First question really is , What Esprit are you likely to buy? (year, number of cylinders) Freescan AFAIK applies to the GM / Delco ECU cars, so any G body cars are out.

I think it was developed by Andy, who has since sold his Esprit and so stopped supporting it. Dermot has done a lot of work including writing a manual for its use.

Andy

The one I'm currently looking at is an '89 and it's a GMP4 car. If not that one then I'll be going a later model.

Andy Whittaker wrote the application. The C++ source code is ( or was ? ) available for download so if any members of the deviant Mac brigade want to port it then it's available.

Right then, said Fred.
