Just bought one of those.

James, By general car production standards every Esprit model is a limited run/special edition. Regards, Peter.

James, As Peter says, there's loads and many ads kick off with "unique" "rare" "special edition" etc which is true in the sense of only 3 made in that colour combination, but nothing else atypical about the car other than that.

EG There was a series of 21(?) numbered two tone grey Turbo Esprits just before the Stevens change.

There was the special paint Green cars with Yellow wheels to celebrate the US racing success.

Then there was the Sport 300 and Sport 350 - short enough runs to be a special??

Sounds like another list is in the making......

Before I purchased my 89 I was looking at an 88 that was a limited edition special. It was special by virtue of a Platinum paint colour with L.grey leather and blue suede interior. Mechanically I believe it was stock. Do not know more or how many were built but it was touted as a special edition model.

Anyone know more about this particular configuration?

AL B.

I just remembered, there were the early 90 model 4 bangers that were done in BRG with yellow wheels. Again, I do not know the particulars. There is one in the Houston area and one I have seen as being somewhere in the north east.

Trying to think how far you can go with this, aside from the accepted 'standard' models...

The JPS S2.

S2.2 is a rare one.

The bell and coleville S2 turbo's are rare.

The Essex.

The dry sump turbos.

The Convertable 'st tropez' and the like conversions.

The two tone silver and red cars.

The HC cars.

The X180r.

The High wing SE.

The 40th anv stevens cars.

The sport 300.

The 'Jim Clark' Green S4 cars.

The sport 350.

The sport 350's that are not silver.

The last v8's.

Some are factory 'limited edition' cars, but some are far rarer than

factory 'limited edition' cars. Where do you draw the line?

:D

Which makes me wonder what we will see this year to mark the 60th?

The BRG Stevens cars with Norfolk Mustard painted Alloys (again in the UK) were to mark the 1995 GT Championship win for Lotus - have to say I liked these for the Red Leather Steering wheels - very a' la Lotus F1 cars of the 60's

Forgot to say Vulcan Grey Esprits are very rare...

Only found ~9 so far.

1)SE Colorado USA (mine)

2)SE ex-Michigan? USA, now Florida? (repainted gunmetal)

3)SE, Tokyo

4)SE in Norway

5)SE Netherlands

6)SE Netherlands

7)SE England

8)88 Scotland (Mark's, sold to Ger?) (repainted Audi grey)

9)uncomfirmed S4 in Atlanta USA

I have heard of colors that are more rare though... Steel blue, Ibiza blue, that ice blue of that one Sport 350...

I believe the ones in BRG with the yellow OZ Ruote wheels were "Jim Clark" special editions. 1991 I believe?

No offence to Jim Clark, but we call those John Deere editions here...

Yep, the Pearlescent 1988/89 SE special edition was the first one I drove. Tobi, of AEG fame, has a lovely one.

Who's got one of the 21 limited edition plaqued and numbered two tone red, two tone blue or grey/silver H.C turbos?

These came with unusual interior options, and if you're lucky enough to find one, with matching luggage.

The red one above does not have the luggage.  I tried to buy that car a while ago!
