Custom clutch / brake pedal adjustment

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

I really want to buy a 2002-2004 epsirit but honestly one of the only things holding me back is the clutch/brake pedals, they are just too damn close to each other (I wear a size 14 shoe.... yes i know it sucks). is there any way to space over the brake and clutch pedals in order to have just alittle more room in between each (like an inch more between each would do wonders). I am not afraid to reweld the bars at an angle and then readjust pedals so they are still vertical but the bars are at a slant. do you think that will work? I would like to hear your guys opinions.

You will learn to love them as I have done.

Although I've got small feet, the pedals got on my tits when I first bought the car.

Now I keep a really narrow pair of sneakers in the car for driving it.....wide shoes or any with lips on the soles are a no no

i'd love to have just an extra inch per pedal so i can at least have the option of wearing normal shoes.

Remove the footrest and shift the clutch and brake across. See:

in particular the picture at the bottom right. I think it's from Jon Hazzard's old V8 race car. He doesn't work with Esprits any more but I'm sure he could give you some advice:

Clarkson: Why?

May: Cause it's the tool of a pikey.

Nope, thats actually Dave Nickless's old car. He was registered disabled (biking accident) bought a v8-Gt brand new and had lotus mod the pedal box as you can see, plus the pic on that page on the lhs is the offset steering wheel boss he had fitted.

Well having the accelerator and brake close together makes heel and toeing easier. And the footrest is a godsend on long motorway journey.

I'm a size eleven and can just about manage though I have to press the brake with the side of my foot or I hit the accelerator. And only thin trainers - leather soles are a big no no :-)

honestly no matter how good you are, you cannot heal&toe with size 14 feet. it just WILL NOT happen lol. i've tried so many times but my feet are just too damn big. Im not that tall, only about 6'2" - 6'3" so i know i can get some more room via lower seat pad removed, aftermarket steering wheel, and the pedals. those three should give me the perfect fit, but i just wanna make sure the pedals modification is not TOO labor intensive (like more than 8-10 hours or something). any instructions would be awesome
