We will take the car train to Alessandria (Piemonte) and drive down to Livorno, where we will board the ferry.

We will land in Olbia, Northern coast of Sardinia.

Hotel is located a bit inlands of Porto Cervo, so plenty of twisted roads to explore...

@Ian

What kind of route map you want? (why can't I click on reply to 'quote' anymore..?)

Fantastic, I would love to do that one. Check out the LEW web pages. There was someone who did just this very trip a year or so ago. section had quite a few photos & how to find the locations.

Well done mate.

I spend a couple of months each summer there with work. In fact last week we had the rally and the Costa Smeralda porsche club and their annual do in Puerto Cervo, yes it was a very german affair. If you get into puerto cervo itself then make sure you go to the little pizza place on the outskirts called pomoderos, not sure of the spelling, they do the best calzone.

Enjoy the ride, and remember the people their think it is their god given right to be on the wrong side of the road when comming around those tight corners above calle di volpe and further down the coast.

Either way enjoy the ride and the weather.

Not done this with the esprit yet, so very jealous.

Oh ,and get used to paying

Yeah, actually it was planned that Gernot and I would do the trip together with our Esprits (S1 and Turbo), but somehow it didn't worked out...

I will load my Minolta 7000i for lots of Photos ( yeah! I am going retro!)

Haha!

We had 3 soft bags in the rear, my notebook case, videocamera bag and the pouch for the SLR - all in the rear compartment

Front compartment was filled with shoes (also one pair of men's shoes :2guns: ) and small stuff and the sunroof spoiler. And before you ask - I did not take the spare wheel out. Fuel canister and tools etc. went into the center of the spare wheel.

On the way home we even had some space for few bottles of wine and licquer and gifts...

Hi Jerry,

You need to drive slowly and at a 45 degree angle on the ramps and everything will be OK. We have chosen the Moby lines, their ferries are quite big, so no problem at all.

Sardinia Ferry

Sardinia Ferry

I was more afraid to board the car train, because their ramps are really steep!

Hi Tony,

I was a bit in a hurry just before we started so forgot about that. :baby: Where does your sister in law live?

Weather was quite nice, except for one day when it was raining cats and dogs.

We were at the beach twice and though the ambient temperature was about 33-35
