Bearing shells for dry sump engine

Recommended Posts

Anybody know the specs for the dry sump turbo crank bearings? Are the bottom bearings grooved or plain?

Upgrade today to remove Google ads and support TLF.

they are the same as the rest of the 'wet' sump engines,

see illustration 40.11a of the parts manual, the only difference maybe is if your engine number is before 20874,

then the rear lower has a notch in it and the item number is a912e1993s, if it is after 20874, the number is a907e1170f.

these are the standard size crankshaft lower rear bearing numbers.

if you have not got a copy of the parts manual, it is well worth getting one, priceless :(

a pdf format one can be downloaded from LEW if you become a club esprit member, this is the one i am looking at now, as i am 4000 miles from home at the mo :(

hope it helps

Thanks- My block number is 003.

Did your sump have steel windage plates set up like fish scales secured via 5mm fasteners, if it did what was your counterweight clearance? 3-5 mm?

This block is a bit oddball, and might have been modded at the factory. ?????

"Bottom bearings grooved or plain?"

Plain if the crank mains are cross drilled and grooved if not.

910 Turbo, Wet and Dry sumps.

Front... 1 - Groove/Hole ... Plain

Front 2 - Groove/Hole ... Plain

Center 3 - Plain/Hole .......Plain

...........4 - Groove/Hole ... Plain

Rear.. 5 - Groove/Hole ... Plain

It's the same configuration of the Esprit /Excel 912 HC engine.

All these engine has the cross drilled crankshaft, there are not turbo engine with a non drilled crank.

Cheers
