I have Elise seats in my S4 which does afford a good few inches extra headroom even with the runners fitted (in fact you can't really mount Elise seats without subframes / runners.

The Elise seats work well for me but they are much firmer - in fact there ain't much cushioning at all (although the Elise 111S seats have more padding in the seat.

quit easy job to remove the runners

I did it with my SE because i had a lack of space

it will bring you 3 cm

just take out the seats with runners(unscrew the bolts from under the car)

Take off the runners

then bolt the chairs back in (direct to the floor)

it will take you about 1 hour for both sides

it can even bring you more legspace but then you'll have to drill 4 new holes per chair throu the bottom (more backwords)

i'm glad i did it

i have a much better sitting position but !

the armrest in the middel is going to be 3 cm higher

so you'll have to lift your arm higher to shift

even so i find it an improvement

gr Rens

researche is something i do when i don't know what the hell i'm doing

Chaps,

Dave, had a substitute turbo sent to PUK to be upgraded. I am anxious to see how my current one looks when I take it off! My engine is overboosting and I cannot find the culprit  . Already replaced the boost frequency valve and checked the vacuum pipes. All freescan tells me is that my boost is srewed up! Keep asking people to borrow me their ECUs for testing.

Dave,

Why dont you start a new topic for the overboost problem Id be interested to see what other responses you get.

From my very limited knowledge and investigation on the subject there isnt usually alot involved to fix an over boost problem.

>V8 seats / removal of runners<

If I remove the runners on the V8 seats there is a suspension frame for the extra seat cushion underneath. I think it will be in the way when mounting the seat dirctly to the floor. Does it have to be cut off? ( Does the SE seat have the extra cushion?)

That's right: - the seat mountings on the Stevens cars are different from those on the S4 on.

I hadn't thought of that, but yes I guess that you'll need to cut off the frame that holds that extra support...

Seems a shame though.

The earlier seats have different subframes and different mounting positions so if you decide to get earlier style seats then bare in mind that you'll have to drill new holes...
