First timer on forum and Lotus owner

Just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Matt and I just got a 2001 Esprit. It is off E-bay, and it did have a dash fire,but hey, I'm 33 and now own my dream car. I have owned 3 rx-7's. My current one is 330 rwhp @ 2700 lbs. Now it is for sale. I am convinced if I can work on an Rx-7 I can work on a Lotus.

Did the fire cause much damage or was it confined to a fried loom? At least we know what you're doing this winter.

the rx7 wankels were ingeniously simple engines. you're gonna have a harder time accessing the part you're working on with the 2001 esprit. things aren't layered as thoughtfully and space became tight with all the nice extras jammed into the 2000+ cars. there are plenty of counterintuitive quirks to the lotus engine, so get a shop manual before doing even the simplest disassembly. have fun, and keep us posted.

Hi Matt, think I remember your car from Ebay.

If I remember right its Blue with a white interior.

The other guys are right, get the books, read them and be prepared to test your patience(like its never been tested before)
