:ermm:

I have an 88 turbo and noticed a bracket mid way underneath the car and think it may be for a bely pan of some sort,Is this a possibility? And if so can I just make my own or try to find a proper one if they exist? :)

Hi Doyle

Yup - the bracket holds the leading edge of the tray in place. Three bolts either side then secure it - 2 on the outer edge of the body and one on the leading edge of the rear arch. Don't know if you'll get hold of one easily though. Bibs tells me it was only fitted by Lotus to pass noise level tests. I believe some people have removed them, so you might be lucky!

Well maybe I won't worry about it then.

I guess I will move to charging the A/C next.

Thanks.

Jim - You're wrong I'm afraid. The Engineers at Lotus have said that the only function of the undertray is to reduce noise so, erm, 'bull' straight back at ya!

It's a good thing to have for keeping your bay clean tho'. I've got mine off at the miniute and the chassis/clips etc etc are still shiny and rust free, the exposed parts look like they've been at the bottom of the sea for a year.

It serves other purposes for sure, also protects your belts from foreign object damage to a degree but it's sole original purpose was the noise tests.

I don't have one on my car but may refit it just for that added protection.

I use mine as a way of keeping all my rusty self tapping screws in one place. I used to have a collection of knackered nutserts in the same storage area, but I don't use them so much any more.
