Following a tip off by Frank Hirsbrunner, we have now located car number 30.

Number 30 has been off the radar for a long time, but has now reared it's head and surfaced in a Switzerland Lotus Dealers showrom.

Just seen this car... by accident was down at Pfenninger to look at a V8 - was so surprised....

its so tempting, but at the price seems really expensive...

perhaps you guys could answer a few of questions for me

i) any other info known about this car?

ii) whats the usual premium of a 350 over similar V8?

iii) is reliability/servicing similar to V8

iv) is a 350 likely to hold its value over time, as its unique... what do you think?

are there any drawbacks to the 350... except the initial purchase price

thanks for any help/info

i would say (all S350 owners can spank me :D ) there is no real advantage in the S350. I's just an derived / optional version: according to the parts list the SIR cars do have the same 'heavy weight' body as the V8 -because of the crash rules in SIR equipped cars . The brake and damper system was an private fitted optional /or standard on the later V8 cars. Even the ECM mapping with it's different torque curve is now in several V8 as part of an upgrade. The same is for some 'carbon'-parts inside. Thats all high priced stuff. Looks good, but is not 'unique'... .

thxs for the reply,

i dont want to 'hijack' this thread too much i.e. was about #30 :(

very interesting, have to say i did love the 350... something about the interior and exterior 'look' but the price premium seems too high on #30.

but if i want the same handling, doesnt sound as its too expensive, to retro fit ... or get a post 02 car (does this have the brakes/damper or just the newer ECM mapping) ?

hmm, tricky... just so want to find the 'right esprit' for me , so come on 350 owners... tell me to follow my heart :)

look inside the parts offers section, from time to time ECM with mappings, adjustable dampers and AP-brake sets are selled via LEF/LEW. AP-sets are on the parts list for late November and some members have added some 'royal' parts in the ordinary V8.

....and some stay as stock :)

PS. the OEM equipment and model history is in LEW archive page (models)

Well what can I say as a 350 owner!!

There is something about owning a 350 which is special - knowing that it is one of only 42.

Yes you can fit the parts onto a standard V8 but it doesn't make it a sport 350.

Knowing that the body is hand laid as opposed to VARI moulded.

Having just done the International Classic motor show at the NEC in Birmingham where my car was on display I can say that a lot of people like the Sport 350.

Ditto with what Dave said. you can have the latest Esprit with all the upgraded goodies but it will never be a Sport 350.

The hand lay cars ARE the ones to go for which brings their weight down to 1300kg. there are lots of other little goodies as well to make them unique. The sport 350 was the most expensive and accelerative Esprit made. IMO its almost up there with the iconic Sport300 and X180R as being sort after. Good original examples are hard to come by, as many get a hard life being a track focused car or people upgrade them even more!! and then there are owners like me who wont part with it unless I fall into financial ruin of course :) so if you have found a minter snap it up and enjoy it. You wont be dissapointed.

I was asked at the motor show how much I wanted for my car - I said it wasn't for sale but they kept asking. They were serious about getting one. As Kylie says I would never part with mine (unless circumstances forced me to).

There have already been some cars written off and some modded so to get an original factory spec Sport 350 is getting very hard now.

Sorry, this is a older thread .....

Not sure but i think this is #30.

Saw it 2 years ago at one of my regular visits at Pfeninger Garagen.

The owner had a little bit problems at a autobahn exit driving at a rainy day.

I `ll find out the production number.

Hi Kylie,

yes its back on the road. This accident has happened 2 years ago.

I have just arrived home from office and checked it was not #30, its #17.

This one IS supplied with an antenna!

PS: have you got the carbon fibre parts that you wanted done?
