25 year Itch Finally Scratched

Picked up my 98 V8-GT 2 weeks ago. Everything I ever expected and more. Mint condition, totally standard but with original Lotus Sports exhaust. 29k miles, to which I've added a thousand in the past two weeks (and I work in London Monday to Friday - I live in Scotland - so only take it out weekends at the moment). Runs perfect, no problems so far. A very well looked after example, a tradition I will continue as this is my deposit on the new Esprit due late 07!

After the M250 farce I'd keep my money in my pocket until the car actucally exists,

Right then, said Fred.

All this negativity......

After reading the interviews with the MD and several threads in other forums, I think its certain the new Esprit will appear late 07. By all accounts the development programme is well advanced, with the V8 engine decided, the final shape signed off and wind tunnel testing in full swing. They have over 160 engineers assigned and it is reckoned to be the biggest project they have undertaken.

So come on, lets be a bit more positive!

Really, I'd not part with a penny to Lotus after that cock up.

Don't want to totally hijack the thread, but "lotus" didn't hold any deposits for the m250 - they were all held by dealers as far as i'm aware -mine certainly was. No trouble at all getting it back..

But that's not the point. Think of it this way : If you had paid a deposit on a car, then Lotus made it and came along and said " here's the car you ordered, can we have the balance now ?" and you said "Actually, I've gone off the idea, I think I'll have my deposit back, thanks". What do you think Lotus would have said ? "Oh, that's fine, here's your money ?" or "You put a deposit down, we have a contract, so pay up".

Right then, said Fred.

I think the new Esprit will be a vast improvement over the Stevens Esprits. :(

It wont however be as good as our beloved Giugiaros :P

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Fishing me out here Wayne??? :)

I think the new Esprit will have slashed lines all over it and have

lights that will look very similar to whatever ford are making at the

time of it's release. The rework of the Elise and the M250 seem to

point in that kinda Cougar/Focus kinda style.

I hope, as Ford have just done with the '40, that Lotus do revert to

previous form, and if it looked like a G-car then i think they will have

more fans than if it looks like the side of a rebrock trainer...

Anyone started a book on what the door handles will be off? :(

Welcome Mark :D
