Jumping out of 4th gear

For the 2nd time now, my car decided to jump out of 4th gear.

The 1st time it happened was about a month ago, going up Bury hill not far from me, it

Upgrade today to remove Google ads and support TLF.

It's nothing to do with the synchro which is only used when changing gear.

It's probably the detent spring/mechanism which holds it in the selected gear.

I do agree the rebuild time is fast approaching.

Speak to Rowland at Lotus Sport, he'll do you a very good deal on a rebuild if you tell him you're from LEF :respect:

could be the synchrohub or the dogring on the gear aswell.

Might just be a weak spring or collapsed coil on the detent mechanism..that wouldn't be too problematic...you can get at the selectors fairly easily by removing the gearbox top, they're all attached to that..check the 4th gear detent spring and you may have found the problem.

I have spoken to a very helpful Roland @ Lotus Sport - thanks Bibs, and he advised me to 1st re-check the linkage as it may not be going all the way into 4th, even though it feels that it does.

I hope its only the linkage, otherwise is going to be expensive...
