I would love to say it happens all the time, but I was offered 20k for my car last night, chequebook at the ready! Of course you never know until the ink is dry, but he seemed pretty serious.

Funny things Esprit prices, they were dropping like mad before the general price crash of the last few months, but now that your average tin box is worth about 2/3 of what it was at Christmas they are starting to look fairly stable. There are some crazy prices being asked at the moment for some cars, I would love them to get it (ie that

Thought I'd chip in to this one finally.

If you look around the board the majority of cars are modified in some way (red hose syndrome anyone) and if we were all purests those taht had swapped it would be burned as Heretics.

Even Lotus are really providing updates for us to MOD our cars (Lotus suspension update).

The esprit is a car which seems to atrct those of a tinkering engineering background so of course we are going to see things and think Hmmm yes I could change that and that would make it better.

If I was to mod my car (which I might) the three cues for on here I would love to take would be Mike sekinger for the external looks, Dermot for my engine, and my own style for the interior.

I think its just a case of accepting that what is one mans choice is not neccessarily anothers.

The two cars/persons involved in the original discussion about this both have things which don't really appeal to me, Karls car looks great but I'm not a fan of the colour and Bibs wheels are gold/copper and again, not my bag baby so to speak!!

I reckon that it up to the owner to decide what he wants to do not the masses, its what makes us individual and if we weren't indviduals we'd have bought euro boxes instead of our esprits.

Finally, yes I'd say prices are on the up!!

Dude, As I've said to you before I think the colour suits your car perfectly, I just don't like the colour itself!!

To be honest, I don't like the colour of mine either!! I want mine in that Pearlescent orange that Fiat do!!

oh no dont get me wrong i wasnt having a go, inside the colour when it was first sprayed looked amazing, but in normal light its quiet plain, i wanted a more flippy pearl tbh, in fact i wanted black but i know how crap i am, and would be hard to keep black, now though i dont use it as much and i love black cars.

the white pearl lp640 roadster colour is really nice i think aswell

What about that pearlescent black ?

Not one you see too often and it looks really nice on the Esprit, would suit the rims nicelly.

I saw the pics on the photographers site - not sure about the little vent in the bonnet (wtf is that for lol?) and the wing mirrors need to be std or the ones of the Honda that Owen has got.

Haven't seen the back in ages but all in all if you had a good attempt at selling it I dont see why not, I think you'd have to market it outside the Lotus folks though.

oooOOO i like the s2000 mirrors, but i would like to keep the led's in the mirrors though, and i was thinking about having R8 led running lights put in the 2 side intakes in the bumper to follow the line of the smiley face if you get what i mean. (they would be set back so invisible untill turned on, one set in white and a set on top in orage as indicators.

No, R8's look gay and the silly Dame Edna Everage style lights enforce that - remember what Clarkson said, Audi is the new Cock.

I would leave it looking like a Lotus not be one of the Lexus lights krew init.

I might do the s2000 mod myself really, they look superb on Owens car.

thats the BEST thing about audi though,,,,everyone says, wow look at the lights. not wow look at the car as every audi is boring and i have said for 2 years now there the new beemer cock machine, you just have to look round my office LOL.

so it would be wow look at the lights,,,,wow look at the car aswell if down to a esprit

(oh johnathon in the other post i heard you say you wanted to make my bonnet and boot CF look LOL)

No, it wouldn't thats the thing - people would simply say "duh Audi lights" just the same as everyone laughs at Lexus Escorts / Fiestas and so on (they are Lexus's right, they have the same back light quadrants.....) - I thought the idea of modding was something original not a mis-match of ideas from other cars all blended together. I see R8's all the time becuase there is a big Audi dealer near me, I dunno what the fuss is all about - 1st time I saw one it was "oh whats that ??" but you put it next to another sports car like the dealers have around here (the new top of the range Jag XK for example) they look boring and have to have these silly things to make them stand out.

Thankfully there are a few guys in their TVRs who zoom up and down my road in Tuscans and a few Segaris's to balance the act a bit.

I dont wanna make your panels out of CF, got more of my own car to sort out 1st hehe - but that gives me an idea, Pearlescent black on the car and go over the roof, and front lid with CF.

Cmon Karl get yer finger out

(seriously that would look to nuts)

Actually sounds quite smart that Karl, the smiley face on the car thing.

Why don't you go to town on it and have a big red nose on the front as well,

perhaps (and sorry if you were already planning this) you could also have a

spinning bow tie where the lotus badge should be?

This would really make your car stand out and people would really buy into it.

You could get out at shows in big shoes and pretend to throw buckets full of water

at people, but the bucket will be full of glitter instead!

Classic!

(It's got to a point that i'm not convinced your posts are entirely taking the

p1ss, for a second (only a second mind) i thought you just might be serious!)

With the economy the way it seems to be all over the planet, you'd think prices would be lower. I've been shopping for an Esprit now for months and I'm not seeing it....

The lights on an R8 ARE lame. It's amazing how the geeky light signature is a distraction.

I had a chat with one of the Directors of Coys this afternoon who said prices of Giugiaro Turbo Esprit's will rocket in the next 1 to 2 years. I was at The Masterpiece Exhibition in Chelsea on the Coys stand, looking at the £2.5m Ferrari 250 GT and a £3.5m Aston DB3S. I asked him what he thought of the Esprit (expecting the usual snobbish put down), but was surprised when he became quite animated and enthusiastic saying they were fantastic cars (which we all know).

I've had various derogatory comments over the years, including a Lotus Type 30 Owner at the Revival telling me I should get a proper Lotus. So it's nice to see the Esprit is finally being appreciated by the people at the top of the market :getmecoat:.

A proper Lotus? So one designed with some of the finest engineers of the era, not to mention Giugiaro and Chapman double-teaming it, isn't good enough? I hope you put him straight. BTW wasn't the type 30 the failure with the blancmange chassis?

S4s at Paul Matty just sold for a shade under £25k. I paid £18.5k for mine three years ago....one just sold has similar mileage to mine so I am quite happy for the moment....

It was a typical remark made by one of the snob Owners in the Goodwood Paddock. I was wound up by that comment for some time.

I asked the Chap from Coy's what he thought about the Stevens Esprit and he said it was a great looking car but it will take longer for prices to increase.

Paul Matty is probably closer to this than Mr Coy and he still thinks the Stevens Esprit is a better bet than a pension! I think a £7k increase in three years is a better return than stocks and shares ( and you can go out and drive it with a big smile on your face) :getmecoat:
