Heat Shield Material

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I recently replaced the o-ring seals on the cams of my SE and in doing this found the heatshield between the head and the turbo to be in pretty poor shape.

I've repaired the shield once before with foil and heat compound but I wondered if anyone knew of any self adhesive metalised heat shielding that may be more suitable??

cheers

Hi Andy

Try these. Think its quite expensive but will sure do the job!!!

http://www.aerotecheng.com/

if not try these. this is a flexable material type. almost like a fibre glass backing with the foil covering. very tough and wont tear!!

click on Aluminised heat resistant cloth towards the bottom of the page

Hope this helps

I made my own out of a double layer of polished SS metal. Kept then apart with a few 1/8" washers. Looks great and seems to work. But the heat shield material noted earlier sure seems easier.
