Wolfrace Wheels

Recommended Posts

I am after a set of Wolfrace wheels; not too fussed about their condition.

Does any one have a complete/ partial set that they would be willing to part with?

What are they for? The ones for an S1 won't fit an S3 as they are smaller and 4 bolt pattern whereas S3 are 5 bolt pattern (unless it's for a dry sumper car).

They are for my S3; if Hilly get get an Audi V8 into his S3, then I am sure that with a little ingenuity I can get some wolfies to fit mine!

Yes the pre-1981 cars have a different stud number and PCD so they won't fit straight on.

They are also smaller at 14" instead of the S3's 15"

Getting wheels with different stud arrangements is not rocket science, it is just a spacer with holes in.

You will find making stud adapter for the rears will be fairly straight forward, however at the font there isn't any room for one and you will end up with offset problems.

Your best bet is to get a set of these from Image wheels, they are not exactly the same, but close.

They are available in sizes which you can get tyres for and they will make them to the PCD and offset your require.

Mmmm; my thought was to modify the hubs, ...

1) Weld up the existing bolt holes and file flat.

2) Drill new holes and fit threarded studs.

... would that work?

I guess that could work, but it is less the ideal.

You would have to find out what the size of the S1 hub spiogot is as the S3s 71mm is probably bigger. If this it the case then you would have to get the Wolfrace rims machined to be able to get them on.

You will also still have the problem of trying to fine suitable tyres as the choice of 14" rubber is getting progressively limited.

You will probably find that by the time you have found a set of alloys, got them re-furnished, modified the hubs and got tyres then you my find the the Image wheels are not the much more expensive.

Thanks for your help/ advice, Hilly - much appreciated.

Maybe I'll have a word with Image and see if cthey can make some replica wheels as the slotmags on their web site aren't quite "right".

Meantime, am I right in thinking that you live in Wallington?
