It would be interesting to see how many people would be prepared to pay for LEW. I almost certainly would however one reason LEW is so great is that it is such a great focal point for all of us weather we check it once a day or once a month.

Kato, can I ask what sort of bandwidth is typically being used per month?

Have any of us got any influence on anyone in the 'esprit' circles that could get some more sponserships LEW's way.

Also given the amount of money we spend on our Espirts its probably a bit of a disgrace that some of us dont chip in more to LEW given the amount we use it.

Currently using between 100-160gb per month! Unfortunately hosting isn't the only cost, but it is the most important.

I agree and have been giving this some thought over the past couple of weeks.

One of the ideas I have come up with is prehaps we could organise some sort of fundraiser stall at Donnington next year. We would have two days of exposure to lotus enthusiasts from all over the world. Just what we could do I am not sure , but ther are enough of us to come up with some good ideas, and we would have plenty of volunteers form this forum I am sure.

Just need to sell a few calendars! Don't need to raise a fortune! All the hard work that goes into producing it needs to be worthwhile.

It's likely that LEW will need a new laptop very soon as the ibook is close to death after 3 years of very hard work. It's been fixed 3 times and had a new keyboard! Software is getting very out of date and I can't use versions from work, as most need to be registered. We also need a hard drive to back up everything.

These cost have been covered in the past easily by Advertising, sales page, shop and the calendar. With calendar sales so poor, it puts a strain on funds. Hosting should be covered for another year, but nobody wants a static site.

If every club member bought a calendar, they'd be plenty over for otherstuff needed to run the site successfully. In fact, that wouldn't happen, because we don't have enough for every member!

It's not December yet, so hopefully we'll get a few orders coming in and they'll be nothing to worry about.

Maybe it would be an idea to introduce a supscription option for the calendar, so every year people get one automatically?

We helped before with the laptop, we can do it again, it is a small price to pay for what we all get from LEW as owners.

I did not need or particularly want an LEW calendar to be honest, but it would be churlish NOT to buy one when I consider all the hard work which you put into the site , which IS something I refer to a lot.

I buy your calendars each year, but I always take a beating from the shipping (California). I love your calendars, but wish there was a system where the US folks could all buy it in bulk, then ship it domestically. I don't mind paying the price of the calendar, it's paying the same price for shipping that hurts. I just ordered some parts from SJ in the UK. I should of had you put several calendars in the same box.

Anyhow, I'll be talking to several of the Lotus Club guys out here and see if we could all order together for one shipping cost.
