Didnt realy have any problems when I did mine a while ago :D

On the 83 Turbo , Lotus used a Triumph Spitfire vertical link/ upper balljoint/ lower trunnion.

The trunnions need regular lubrication (EP 90 oil) via a grease gun/screw in grease fitting or the thread in the bronze trunnion will sieze up causing stiff stearing and premature wear and play in the trunnion.

Also the bushing(nylon) on the trunnion tends to wear quickly but is cheap and quick to change.

The upper balljoint is also cheap and quick to change (2 through bolts)

You will need a spring compressor to remove the spring (not like the rear)

I changed my shocks to Konis (expensive) but the Armstrongs work OK if not leaking.

You might also want to change the inner bushings on the upper and lower wishbones.

Apart from checking the track rod ends and inner steering rack balljoints thats about it ;)
