What made you happy today?

Spoke to the guy who bought my S2 today and he is enjoying the car so much. It's good to know it is being appreciated. He said he has already decided to be buried in it but his daughter wants it after him. :)

I'am happy, winter is almost over. Started my Esprit driving season today. B)

Worried about car, because last drive was on November. But looks that everyting is ok. Weather is so cold that clutch red rope syndrome is not a problem

Nice Jukka you had the car out, I've heard about it (friends have seen some Lotus in the city)....

Hopefully I get my car on the road this summer.

What made me happy? At last there's big improvement on our project, took the cylinder head out today and going to take it to a specialist tomorrow B) I'm really excited, cause it seems, that this summer I can actually drive my Lotus, what else can you ask

Nice guitar Mark, I'm toying with learning to play presently!

I'll tell you what made me happy yesterday, hanging around with Murray Walker! Too cool! He talks like he's commentating all the time, only a tiny bit quieter!

Buying a present for myself, a Gibson Les Paul. It was expensive but it's only money and you only live once .

Ohhh Mark that is beautiful, playing guitar well is an amzing gift and hard to learn well. The other day we found an original Jansen Peter Poser that looks similar to that shape, unfortunately im not allowed to have it at home and goes on the wall of fame at the shop as its worth a bob or two now. I am practicing on a high end model Blade at the moment. Im just learning so im really rubbish ! :(

I didn't know it at the time, but I stopped Murray Walker in full throw giving an after dinner speach about 6 weeks ago in Torbay.

I phoned a mate who's phone rang and rang and then went dead. He phoned me back about 30 mins later to tell me that Murray had just got to his feet, when I called, to which Murray said "Do you want to get that? could be far more important than listening to me"

He didn't and It wasn't.

Would love to meet him - the only true voice of motorsport IMO.

I met him in Adelaide when the GP was held there, a few months after James Hunt had died. He is an absolute gentleman :)

V8 came back today. Just in time for Doni. :) And it passed the MOT - well it would have done, had it had legal plates on, so nothing too major there then.

Spent a lovely day with our Scandanavian LEF'ers showing them historical Norwich and a roman town. Weather is perfect, just done my good deed for the day and mowed my neighbours lawn because they are very old and he's done his hip in. And my wife has just told me it's chinese for tea! One of my best days!!

Got a job offer at last. It will be a 6-month contract coordinating development of a Stirling engine for a company in Albuquerque so the work is going to be really interesting and the offer was more money than I expected so I am a very happy bunny right now. :):)

Now I need to get organized to move over there.

Good news

You will find Albuquerque a most interesting city, Trevor, as well as numerous other superb attractions relatively short drives away. I'm certain that the first free weekend you will visit Sante Fe to the north. But there are so many other "sleeper" places to visit that may not be immediately apparent. I strongly recommend that you take the time to visit Bandelier National Monument, the site of numerous cliff dwellings, many of which are open to the public--a rarity in most other places. To the south, the small mountain town of Cloudcroft is quite scenic, and the location of The Cloudcroft Inn--a very special place to spend a weekend. Clark Gable and others thought so as well. A short distance away is the White Sands National Monument, a stark change from the greenery of the mountains, but an almost hauntingly serene setting, especially near sunset.

A couple of trivia points: the city was named after the Duke of Alburquerque--note the extra "r" in the spelling of the name (referring to the Spanish town). Sometime in the 1800's the first "r" was dropped, although some folks still use it even today.

And most importantly, if given a choice, always order the green salsa--not the red-- with your meal! For whatever reason the entire state of New Mexico is ga ga over green salsa. Ordering the red immediately identifies you as a tourist!

Enjoy your half year stay in Albuquerque, Trevor. My vicarious thoughts are with you. :D

Cheers,

John

What made me happy? I went fish collecting today, and found several spectacular darters, small members of the perch family that can be found in the mountain streams of Appalachia. Easy to keep in a tank, as they don't get much over 3", very curious personalities. You can't buy them in pet stores, you have to go out and find them. In the Appalachian mountains, over seventy species of darters are known to exist - if you can find them.

Today, I found two large striped darters, and several speckled darters, brilliant with their bright turquoise breeding colors. Also found two beautiful bluebreast darters.

Tomorrow, I complete the cam belt and chargecooler impeller changeout. Next week, the new tires. Week after next - rock and roll!

Currently on 'holiday' in the South of France helping some friends install a swimming pool. We had glorious weather to do it in, so much so that the backs of my ears are sunburnt (not happy) and we completed the job late yesterday evening. My mate's internet connection is not that good so I'll put up a couple of photos next week when I get back to Blighty. Or course today it is tipping down, just in time for our trip to the 'City of Space' in Toulouse, still, it's better than trying to put a pool (5m x 10m) up in a quagmire.

In theory there is no difference between theory and practice.<br />

In practice, there is!
