What made you happy today?

If you search Battery Control Modules you'll discover that there area few ways they act, some will allow continual cycling and replacement of cells if necessary, others may go to a constant bad state if the cells ever drop charge too far and that may be the case with the ones you have if they were allowed to discharge too far.

Both batteries would have discharged way too low. They have both stopped functioning correctly. After looking through the rules & regulations for flying a drone in Australia, it is as difficult as anything to find places to fly.

So the decison has been made that since I got the whole shebang for free, it has only cost me some time of an afternoon.

It is now all going in the bin. Can't even be bothered to put it on Gumtree.

Haven't heard back from any company that I have contacted re possibly repairing so that's all she wrote.

Please don't put the batteries in the bin, there will be a scheme to dispose of them properly. LiPo's catch fire if they are pierced and there's a chance that could happen in your refuse truck! Certainly wouldn't be the first time!

No worries. I'll check it out. I have not heard of anything, but that doesn't mean that it doesn't exist here.

Ta. I've just been looking and it looks like our local Bunnings takes them for recycling. Thanks for the link though.

The government and local councils have been all over drones here.

- You can only fly 120 meters above AGL from where you take off.

- Drone must always be in your line of sight. And that does not mean a speck in the sky where you can't see the direction or attitude of the drone. So that basically voids FPV with goggles.

 - You can't fly in National Parks and we have a lot of them.

 - You can't fly anywhere where you are within 30 metres of another person unless that person is associated with the operation of the drone. That law actually stops me flying a drone in my backyard.

- Even where CASA has said that you can fly in this place, a lot of local councils then put up a sign saying that drone flying is not allowed.

You can ignore these rules, but the consequences, if you are caught, are fairly costly.

And dangerous. The rules are pretty much the same across the UK and EU, drones aren't toys. My largest one at 5kgs and 60mph doesn't leave a small mark, it makes big holes in things including people.

I'm sure you'll need to keep 3-5km away from any airports too.

Yearly Evora service at South West Lotus Centre. £325 Total

What an awesomely cheap car to own and maintain. Only cost is 4 years - a once a year service and 2 tyres.
Very happy owner.

The company I used to service the car didn't change the Plugs when they should have done (the back banks are notoriously difficult to reach and its these that failed). And I have had to have a completely new Air Con Unit fitted from Condenser upwards due to the crappy salt on our roads. Otherwise its just servicing.

I use a Lotus Race Mechanic who went out on his own doing Bikes and Cars. he's an old fashioned mechanic and can do anything he puts his hand to. As a Sole trader who just rents a Bay in a local garage, he charges me £175 for a Lotus Service :) He also maintains my Sons Peugeot, My dads Merc and Kia, my Daughters Peugeot and many other people I know. He only gets business word of mouth but he is absolutely excellent! Especially with the Lotus which he knows everything about!

@Kimbers Those guys are worth their weight in gold. For the last 15 years Ive also had one of these ‘can do anything on any car mechanics’ for all of my work cars and family cars. He unfortunately retired last year.

David,

Fantastic news! This is a great bit of news to hear as I've run into a slight hiccup from my surgery.  At least I can be happy for Jennifer and not be selfishly thinking of me, myself and ME.  Thank you so much for letting us know Jennifer's improvements!

@bogle

Bill, you've every right to be thinking firstly of 'numero uno', that's not selfish in the slightest.

Fingers crossed that your hiccup is but a minor blip. Keep us posted of your progress, if only so that I don't then feel selfish by only thinking of Jennifer.

I got to fly back from India a few weeks ago in the new style A350 British Airways Club (Business) Class. A great improvement on previous configurations. Unfortunately it was also the only long-haul flight I have ever taken, which didn’t involve me drinking any alcohol from the Lounge in Mumbai to my home in England. Purely due to the early daylight flight timing and then having to drive 90 minutes home from Heathrow. Maybe next time!

Driving from Dallas up to North Dakota, then across to Wisconsin and coming back from Chicago next week.  So predominantly bloody freezing!

Agreed, an excellent step up.  Unfortunately a fair few aircraft still have the old config, which is now most disappointing in comparison.
