Are you sure the discs just don't need a light surface skim on lathe. Check the thickness as it's maybe all that's needed this time round.

I ordered a new Lotus, having cancelled the Porsche. That makes me happy

After 5 years of hard work and graft my Downton mini fired to life this morning and sounded absolutely amazing, everything has been rebuilt so big smiles. Just lots of loose ends to finish off no

My Dad came through his open-heart surgery successfully.

650 miles from a tank of diesel! I've done 1,000 miles, only filled up once and still have half a tank!

I've had used 4 tanks in the Impreza, instead I've used 1.5...

Just got the Esprit back from SWLC with new wastegate valves and the faulty Cat replaced (not the happy bit) and f*^& it's fast. It's never been this quick before  (that's the happy bit), up until now I was wondering what all the fuss was about. Just about to leave for Brands Hatch - A303 here we come :blob fire:

Set off this morning early for a wee drive to show the Evora to an aspiring new Evora owner. Ended up going for a 150 + mile drive on some beautiful roads, little traffic, sun was shining, car was purring like a Cheshire cat that had got the clotted cream, and then she was howling like a banshee being spanked by a thorn bush!  What a hoot.....

Well as some know I rescued a little M100 about a month ago so the update is she is now purring, has had all her brakes replaced, back original OEM's and front with adapted MK11  Astra caliper's, yes they do fit with a little bit of work. Her fluids have been changed and I recon that would be the first fresh oil in her since at least 2010 as that's when she was parked up. She has now had her soft top recolored with a range of products from AutoGlym and looks pretty good. Monday she goes to the paint shop to have her bonnet, front bumper and rear spoiler painted to get rid of the peeling lacquer syndrome, then she will look pretty good. Her first official outing will be too a local show up North in Buckie, hopefully she will get their and back with no issues.

We have been checking back on her MOT history through the .GOV website and find that she was also off the road for a year in 2007 so I can now also verify her very low mileage.

Work done to date.

Fuel injectors sourced and fitted from the states.

Wheel's refurbed, they only needed a paint job as they were a dull Grey color, now back to original Silver with the Lotus name painted back in Yellow.

New rear caliper's and pads.

New front caliper's and pad's.

Chassis all cleaned down and painted original Black.

Interior scrubbed out and leather fed and cleaned.

Suspension all checked, cleaned and painted.

Fluid's and filter's all done.

Soft top scrubbed, treated and recolored.

Engine given a good clean and some detailing.

Rear lights all repaired and missing bulb's replaced.

Battery replaced.

One MOT obtained.

Six years crap, crud, bird shit, bird's nest in the boot !!, hundred's of spider's and cobweb's removed. Oh, and one wasp's nest, also in the boot.

Pictures will follow after the paint job.

Happy bunny. She will never be as good as my last S3 but is looking pretty fair now.

As found pic.

After all the work and effort you put in for The Lotus Festival you've earned the right, Bibs.

And if Sparky's given it his personal approval it's got to be a happening place.

My vicarious thoughts are with you. Enjoy!

Actually it's small, secluded, quiet, relaxed - the best chill-out place we've ever found.  What makes it is its people.  They are by far the nicest bunch we've ever found worldwide, and are now firm friends from gardeners to General Manager.  Been going there for years, but it looks like events have conspired to alter our routine this time, otherwise we'd be there in about 4 weeks!  Bibs, I'll give you a long list of names to look out for, and a few pointers.

After a long day of writing a tender response I went for a blast in the Evora. Stopped at the traffic light's with the windows down and a lad about 13/14 walked past in his school uniform. Stopped. Looked at the car - up, down, front, back, then walked over to pax window and shouted in - "wow, really nice car mate - lovely".  If we didn't live in such a bloody PC / paranoid world I'd have offered him the chance to jump in for a quick 10 minute spin and a photo of him in the driving seat. Unfortunately, doing a stranger a good deed is just not worth the risk / an option these days!  Maybe I should post in "what made you sad today" too!

Anyways - top lad, hopefully one day he'll be in a Lotus too.

Know the feeling of PC correctness. Couple of year's back I was in a multi car park and found a little kid of about 2 wandering about. I approached her to see if she was ok as she was on her own but was left feeling guilty as not my kid, a little girl crying, in a car park, with an old man with other's looking on. In the end I went and found a car park attendant to sort it out. It's crap that normal people can be left feeling like that when you are genuinely trying to help someone.

Yeah - as I'm getting to be an old fart I'm thinking about retirement and of all the parks I will not be able to go into and sit down in with a flask and a buttie just enjoying the green and open space as some bitch of a PC mother will no doubt take exception and report me for being some sort of a pervert!  It freakin' makes my blood boil the way we have to now be so bloody PC and think about our actions no matter how "normal" or innocent they are. It's bloody outrageous really.

...get a dog ?.

seriously, even 10 years ago an older gentleman ( who had admittedly lost a dog a year previously) used to carry a lead on all his walks so that people wouldn't look at him askance.

Finally sent an email to one of our local radio stations saying they should should their callsign from K-Rock to K-Rap. Remove the hyphen if you want.

Won't change anything, but I feel better. :doc:
