What made you happy today?

Managed to slip off a decking frame I had finished constructing yesterday evening, now have a broken 5th metatarsal 😠.

Thankfully, if that it the right word, it was near the edge so I managed to get a soft landing on the lawn. Had it been in the middle it would have been a 4 feet drop between the beams since the frame is over a pebbled ditch which has been dry for 12 years.

Just needs the deck top putting down but looks as though this year’s project is now on hold 🙄

Marc. Just let me know when said field gates are to be opened and I will nip in and pick it up before you light the match.

🙂

Yesterday was the first day in (I think) at least 10 years that I have considered the restoration of my Esprit V8 complete - Everything works as it should and it runs like a dream, even the air conditioning (which has been the most recent bug bear to be tackled). I don't think there is much that has not been replaced or rebuilt over this period. It's been painful and ridiculously expensive but it is done 😁 and I am so relieved, at times I thought I would never get to this point, even wanting to put it in a field and set fire to it a few times.

It's been an experience.

"at times I thought I would never get to this point, even wanting to put it in a field and set fire to it a few times."

I've been there a few times with my prior 91 SE Turbo Esprit that I wanted set it a blaze.  But not so much with my V8.  Although my V8 has had a "E" service.  Yep, "E" service also adds to a "C" service with the following:  Tires Michelin Pilot Sport 4S, New CATs Magnaflow, 3rd Alternator this time Heavy Duty 2001 Cadillac Catera New part, Alpine CD BT stereo, Momo steering wheel plus new Aluminum Boss,  Lotus logo horn button, New Optima Yellow Top battery, New passenger seatbelt.  There's probably more stuff that I can't remember.

Let us know what's up with your A/C.  Mine works and I'm so glad it's not R-12!

The Esprit passed its MOT on Thursday afternoon :) despite developing a high idle issue on the way over to the test station. Luckily it cleared up for the duration of the MOT only to reappear on the way back home 🙄

Hopefully, the high idle is just a floor mat getting in the way.

My high idle was caused by the throttle cable getting stuck.  I had to lift up with the the pedal with my foot to stop it.

I forget if the cable had to be replaced to fix it as it was over 3 years ago.  This happened on my 91 SE Turbo Esprit and not my V8

The AC had never worked and was at the end of a very long list so was expected to be a bit problematic . The A/C Rads were changed at the start of the rebuild along with all others (the A/C worked for about 45 minutes when everything was put back together due to leaks, progress on this was then abandoned), the pump was changed last year but due to various issues took 4 visits to get it to work for about 15 minutes (more leaks and faulty equipment). Last week the receiver dryer was changed (my fault for delay on this) and still no A/C although there had been no loss of gas. Finally it was tracked down to the valve which was changed and now is all good - well had A/C all the way home which was a first.

The joys of buying a project car!

Ooooh. Lets see now. Would it be the fact that I found and managed to purchase what will be a very nice Eclat in Silk Red metallic. Of course it is. Car was found sitting in a container some time ago. The finder obviously purchased it then decided it wasn't a job for him. Hey presto. Enter LotusRescue to snag her. Currently the engine is out and in parts, nobody knows why this was done, but I have a good spare which will be inserted into the space soonish.

The downside to the trip was a crazy £400 quid to go collect and bring it home. How in bloody hell can they justify 2.09.9 p per Lt. Bloody theft. I probably spent in all about 1.5hrs leaving motorways and going into towns for fuel at anything from 1.86.9 to 1.94.9. Maybe doesn't seem much of a difference, but when your filling a 100Lt tank3 of 4 times it soon mounts up.

And now the punt. Anyone interested in what will be a nice Eclat Celebration in Metallic Silk Red with Beige cloth interior. I will have to double check, but as far as I can tell she has been in storage since 2004.

Comes with original documents and Lotus manual.

Would that valve be the Expansion valve?

Evora passed its MOT today with no advisories.

18k service done at the same time so a clean bill of health now for another 12 months, .

A big relief as it's currently my therapy car so I couldn't do without it.

I got off lightly, for once - £355 with a few pence change, :).

Rolled into Salzburg yesterday, having endured over 1 hour barely crawling forward through a major jam on the Munich periphery, gut off song due to getting coffee and beer crossed up the day before in Freiburg. Later stretched out, feeling better alongside the Missus who'd found BBC Entertainment on the telly and just giddy watching Semi Detached. Who knew the Brits were handy at comedy? 😉
