  • 2 weeks later...

I finally got my Evora fixed after someone reversed me in July.

Why so long you may ask?

As the other party admitted fault I wanted to select where the car would be repaired rather than rely on an insurance company making the cheapest choice. The car was due for a service so booked a Lotus garage and asked if they could manage the repair. Certainly sir. Dropped in for service. They took details and pictures. Then wait. And wait. Chase. Talk to my insurance. They talk to them. And wait. Nothing. After 3 months I gave up and went to find another place.

Called them. Dropped by. Pictures and details. Might take a little time to get parts (new bumper and rear light cluster). No problem. Left it with them.

Did take a little time but I got a call back. All priced. Insurnace company wanted to press for repair not replace but they fought that battle for me. All sorted.

Wait for parts to arrive. Then drop in. Bumper already painted. A few days to fix then collect.

Perfect service.

Deserves a shout out.

@100th_Idiot Glad you've got yours sorted. I'm still waiting on mine but compared to you, it happened fairly recently - September, .

Similar scenario to you too, in several areas. Other party's insurance pushing to get the job done at their authorised repairer, who when they phoned me to make an appointment, didn't even realise that they were going to be dealing with GRP and carbon fibre with alloy substructures so that filled me with confidence, NOT! My own selected repairer submitted the estimate and the insurer clearly fell off their chair at the £10k+ figure so pushed for repair not replace. Still waiting on their answer as to how you can repair shattered sections of exposed CF. They eventually relented and authorised replacement panels which are now on order so it's just a case of playing the waiting game while another vein of Unobtainium ore is located, mined and processed.

You'll get there in the end. At least my repairer fought that for me. He was telling me of another case where they took it to the ombusman and won.

I'm still waiting on the "Lotus" letters as they are on back order.

Divine Handcraft (iirc) do them and they are great, no need to wait for the Lotus ones unless you want the raised plastic ones.

I came into this world screaming and covered in someone elses blood. I'll probably leave it in the same way.

They are just vinyl. On order anyway. Should get them in March then just drop in for a cup of tea while they fit them.

I actually prefer the vinyl ones to be honest, easier to clean etc. Had the black "solid" ones on my NA, but Sport 410 came with vinyl.

My chosen repairer (big shout out for Protek, Bathgate) has been brilliant in this respect. My insurer on the other hand was a complete waste of space and wanted the car declared a 'total loss' before anyone had actually looked at it. I told them to close the file as 'For Information Only' and dealt with everything, including tracking down the at-fault driver, myself from then on.

Hopefully we'll get Jennifer back up to speed on her physio before too long but we'll maybe delay the Tour de France entry until next year, .

Hey David...good to hear that Jennifer is regaining her appetite and gaining some much needed muscle mass.  You did right by spoiling her to the maximum.  I wouldn't cross out the Tour de France just yet.  Thank you for the update and we will all stay tuned for the Jennifer channel.

Before you know it, they start gluing themselves all over the road so it needs to be dug up completely and traffic is no longer possible. And just think of all the resources needed for those repairs!
On the other hand (pun intended), skin will grow back one way or another. It's the natural way of things. 🤕

I have made many mistakes in my life. Buying a multiple Lotus is not one of them.

Pity he hadn't glued both hands, he'd then be rather stuffed in terms of doing anything needing hand dexterity. Even greater pity it wasn't a concrete road as that would be more difficult to break up.
