ramjet
Getting the roof on the new garage with my son helping. A 19 year old that stayed at home and helped on a Sunday when he could have been doing something he wanted to do. OK, there's an ulterior motive in that when the new garage is finished, his car gets to sit under cover in a lockup garage out of the sun, but I still take my hat off to him. Didn't even gripe when the Fremantle Doctor (seabreeze) had come up and made it's way in to where we live and we waited it out and finished the last sheets off in the dark after we had already packed up. Got to love kids like that. ps forgot to mention that he didn't have a hat to wear that would have made any difference with the amount of sun we had, but he had his sunnies on, so now with the sunburn, he has the racoon thing going on. Looks bloody funny. Edited February 21, 2010 by ramjet Quote All we know is that when they stop making this, we will be properly, properly sad.Jeremy Clarkson on the Esprit. Gold FFM Günter Posted February 25, 2010 Gold FFM Report Share Posted February 25, 2010 (edited) my small university notebook decided it want go bust today on 'boot'.... ..does not sound like a reason to be happy, but compared with what happened the rest of the day it is nothing ! -first day without snow & ice on those busy Berlin streets , what means first day out with the Esprit again... car is still not perfect on every aspect, but runs well so far. I was on the way to the university in Berlin, to get the result of my last written university-test today: *Mathematics-part2* with a grade of 1.7 ..what means together with the other two test results *Introduction Nanosciences* grade 1.0 , *Innovative Transport- & Roadtecnology* grade 2.3 -I now have passed more than 30 tests. Time to go on placement , and write a thesis for graduation. Gold FFM Günter Posted February 26, 2010 Gold FFM Report Share Posted February 26, 2010 (edited) Thanks Roger, but it's still no time for applause .. for some private reasons i failed on constant passing of those tests year by year. That's why I changed my mid after the third semester -and have redone a lot of those courses, but lost some years to pass the final graduation within time. Now all pre-tests are done , but there is still a placement with defined aim and time list to do.... and this bloody writing of a conceptional/science thesis. And that all just for the Bachelor-degree . The Master of science/Master of engineering/automotive engineering is still on the list of things to do in life. And to build a house , have a family and so on.... I'm so simple & boring conservative Edited February 26, 2010 by Günter Quote ********************************************************************* to name the things if I see them, that's what I call integrity.. *********************************************************************
Vulcan Grey
Next week is my 10th year at my current job (designing implantable hearing aids). Today I survived the 2nd round of layoffs that we have ever had. Something I learned when I first started there (from an Engineer who is now gone). He told me "make yourself indispensable" and I have tried! Quote Travis Vulcan Grey 89SE

Simon350S
Well, with having our heating oil (possibly) nicked last week... Was 10 degrees in the house for 3 days! Brrrr The vectras broken down with a suspected alternator screwed, and the washing machines packing up, oh and we need a new hot water system In the house asap as well... Not going good with no money in the bank and borrowing money from family to pay the bills! Oh and to top it off my backs gone today whilst trying to remove the alternator off the vectra and I'm now bed bound! So why's this in the what made me happy thread? I've been shortlisted for an interview!!!! Yippeee.... Even if I don't get it, atleast I've made it that one step closer, it will be my first external interview since I joined Royal Mail in 1996 as an apprentice! Just hope my back gets better in time as I want to be looking fit and healthy when I turn up next week... Fingers crossed! Oh and an agency is also forwarding me for a position which they have suggested that I am 'very suitable' for! Yes I know it's still a million miles away from getting a job still, but it's one step closer and a little bit of positivity for a change! Me and lisa are also going through something VERY exciting this week and if it works I'll be the happiest man alive! Quote Chunky Lover

esprit350
Got my Visa for India this morning, very happy to have my passport back with me. what an awesome service from the company that processes the visa applications on behalf of the Indian Government. I did the online application last weekend and posted the passports with the other required stuff on Monday, by special delivery, I tracked the package using the post office track and trace system, the package was redirected on Tuesday and received by the visa processing center at 15.03 on Wednesday, I got them back this morning(Saturday) at 8.30, superb service especially as the visa website says due to high demand please allow at least 15 working days for your application to be processed Quote The individual has always had to struggle to keep from being overwhelmed by the tribe. oneshot
Unusually for me - the car has not been out since December. A combination of bad weather and family commitments meant that I was unable to get the car out until today. So in to the garage I go, disconnect the battery trickle charger, and crank it up. Starts first time roll out of the garage and off for a little drive to warm things up. I had forgotten how good these cars are! Although not run for nearly 3 months it ran like a dream. Made my day today. Quote Dave - 2000 Sport

Simon350S
Well I didn't enjoy the sun in the car... I spent the morning with Lisa on sun loungers in the garden cuddled up under a duvet watching the birds flitting and fluttering around feeding, filling all our nesting boxes, builiding their nests and doing all their birdy type things.. It was a very relaxing and lovely morning, my parents turned up later with a full roast beef dinner for us and then we all spent the evening in the cwtch infront of a roaring log fire catching up on an exciting week in the Thomas houshold Quote Chunky Lover
Petrol feet driven
These are just the start of it but there is a lot more, like the new I-phone 3Gs and new PC and so on. But here are some bits I also have got, my fave is the Lotus book of course. (if you haven't got this book I can say get it, a great read and I find it hard to put down at bedtime) Also the Samsung 7 LED TV with the blue ray is just amazing. Can't belive how cheap all this was, from what I could of paid. The walldrobes and other bits where from the offeroftheday site that bibs posted. Some from E-bay and the TV was the only item we nearly paid full price for and then Samsung gives us £200 back for buying it.. GREAT.. The watch is the cheapest at only £0.99, my Son will be so happy to put this on. Even if this last only one day he will had its worth. Also got the car in with a Service C with Sparky, what shoudn't cost to much as how great Howard looked after it. Now after all this I will have to work for the next 3 years to save up for the next spending spree. Simon, Day's like that make you fill so more human, forgetting time and the day seems longer and better than any other before. This is why we go on Holiday to Polperro time has stood still here for hundreds of years. Forgetting everything like TV and computers and letting the day unwind. When I was younger all I wanted was to move out, now all I want is to move back.
