Probability of 2011 Esprit becoming a James Bond Car?

Well... By 2011 Daniel Craig should be on his 3rd Bond Movie (if the one film every three years thing keeps going)... The Aston will have been getting a bit tired by then having appeared in just about every Bond film in the noughties (World is Not Enough, Die another Day, Casino Royale 2, Quantum of Solace)

It's British, he's had a Lotus before, it's possible surely? And it would be a great way of launching the new Esprit :)

There is also talk of remaking the Back to the Future movies in 2010 with it being the 25yr anniversary since Back to the Future 1.... I'm guessing that if they started filiming in 2010 the film wouldn't be out till 2013 at the earliest. With no chance of a new Delorean coming out what's the next closest thing?? :hrhr:

Mind you I cannot think of anything worse than a remade back to the future film... :sofa: Especially if the remakes are anything like the remade Italian Job.. Without Michael J Fox, Christopher Lloyd and Robert Zemmicks the film would be nothing... And as much as I love the Esprit - I think the Delorean is probably too intrinsic to Back to the Future. Maybe I'll be proved wrong :)

Bond will only get an Esprit if Lotus or there owners cough up loads of dosh, basically every new car in Casino Royal was a Ford, i.e Aston, Range Rover, Land Rover, Mondeo etc . I would think Aston will keep the deal going.

As they say money talks.

Yes but Aston are now separate from Ford. Do they have the budget for an ongoing commitment?

I don't think there's a lot of chance for the new Esprit at the moment. It just doesn't fit Bonds current, more gritty, image. If they went back to the old larger than life tongue in cheek approach then maybe.

AM is named as the coolest brand in the world, I think they will keep it going. I'd like to see the esprit in it, but to be honest it's not even on the road yet!

Hate to say it but yes its all about product placement and money these days (coke are using 007 as an advertising campaign for crying out loud).

the one manufacturer who haven't yet product placed in bond who have money, products and heritage are VAG.

they have Bentley, Bonds cars from the books if I remember right, plus obviously products from audi, lambo and buggatti which would all fit the image!!

Just a thought and now I'm ducking behind the flameproof Sofa!!

I think Aston handed over around 10 cars to be used and abused for the latest film - Anybody see Lotus doing that?

Let us not forget for a couple of films it was BMW (cleans fingers after typing that) so it clearly is more about the cash than what is suitable. I think Toby is about on the money, it's more likely to be something like an S6 -A8 Audi than an Esprit. Dont think it will be a Veyron when each one reputidly costs

Astons were cool cars during the 60s, but became seen as old fashioned during the 70s (as the company fell on hard times and didn't update their range. And the Lagonda would never do as a Bond car). Lotus on the other hand were producing cutting edge cars during the 70s and were much more appealing.

Although Aston are tops now, everything changes and I doubt Aston will be king pin for ever (especially under David Richard's stewardship). I just hope the next Esprit is a stunner and the Bond franchise look past money and put a Lotus back where it should be .

If Lotus were going to play, there is no reason an Elise could have been in a Bond movie. They used a BMW Z3... so an elise could have been used. Same with the Evora. But as noted above... money is needed. However, it might be a bold and good move for Lotus to lighten up on other advertisements and go with Bond. Like was said, 30 years later... Evora would do well in the USA market if it were a Bond car. Very little other adds would be needed or measure up. Then, of course, the Esprit could be the new Q toy at a later date...

Seems like the bond car is a thing of the past anyway judging by this last film......

No great gadget-tastic bond car

No witty little quips after he's seen off a bad guy

No classic "just keeping the british end up sir" one liners

Seems like he's a shit driver too as he struggled to get away from a poxy alfa and box type van in the opening sequence.

ugh! I was looking forward to seeing the new one as well.... oh well, maybe things will change a bit in the future. I'm still holding out for a Lotus in one of the films of the next decade! It's gonna get soooo boring if they keep using that Aston forever and ever and ever and ever and ever...
