Ref the comments about the milbrook circuit - I was lucky enough to have a passenger ride round that course in the tri-fuelled exige on Methanol last week (270hp), with one of the Lotus test drivers. Very impressive car and a great ride. That circuit was designed by someone who must have been abused in their youth or something - several blind brows followed by the road falling away and feeding into a sharp bend, different cambers etc., very difficult to drive well.

I did get to go round it in my Esprit because the people I followed there were lost, but they only took it at about 20mph I'm afraid.

Great show. Am I alone in (whispering now...) thinking that the Veyron is one fugly car?

Especially alongside something delicious like the all-carbon Zonda?

I'd love it for the power and exclusivity but I agree, next to the Zonda it looked like a brick

Suspect the Zonda is more exclusive!!

Have to say the Veyron looked a little Ponderous really!! Track day is not really its party piece though I suspect!!

I'm so P'd with my Sky+ box.

It's set to record 5 mins after the show finishes.

Last night I watched the latest two episodes backt o back, both cut off before the end of the show, so it got to the Zonda time was 1 min..... END OF RECORDING.

I guess I'm going to have to watch on Iplayer for the last few mins of the show.

Not to my eye - I love its look. On the track it looked completely planted and unfussed and commanding whereas the Zonda looked a bit edgey and unpredictable. A sort of Steven Segal vs Jackie Chan. Can't argue with the figures tho. Was surprised the Veyron wasn't quicker given how slow it looked (and vice versa) so thats another of my rules of thumb broken!!

Fav Top Gear/Clarkson Video clip.... (even though the Esprit got spanked into third place) was the Supercar Shootout when the Cerbera showed all the other cars just what fast means! B)

Mind you, if you check the whole video clip the V8 does give an Escort Cossie a royal whooping!!!!

......on another note I really do think that at least ONE year Jeremy Clarkson should consider shaving that poodle off his head for children in need or some other charity!

LOL that's exactly what I was thinking - seen less Esprits on the road (apart from meets) than Veyrons !

There were 3 of them alone at Goodwood this year, more than any other car in number.

Put it on a bigger track where it can exploit the power and it wont be so slow, the main problem is it has a lot of speed to lose.

The Lotus theory really, you race a car upto a tight set of corners (ie a roundabout) the faster car has to break earlier and harder, 95% of the time they go under speed on the braking whilst the person in the 'slower' car can moderate their speed accordingly (and much more accuratly) and steal the racing line.

no you are not alone ( david bowie - five years?)

I have long said many times on this forum the veyron is ugly so is the pannini sonda and since having seen one last week at the NEC so is the mac merc

Did anyone else notice the significant dent on the driver's side (Veyron) as Stigman was doing his lap.
