Just fitted BOV's to my V8

Recommended Posts

Hi there,

Just fitted my new BOV's today but because I had visitors, ended up finishing it in the dark! Crazy I know but it's all working now.

Had a nightmare of a job trying to find the hole to put a bolt back in the dark. This one bolt alone took me nearly an hour to do. Job was a bit awkward as it was hard wrok getting the old hose out and new tee piece in. I had to cut down the tee piece to make it fit. Job would taken about 2 hours. I thought the boot floor would be the most difficult but it only took me 15 minutes to get out.

Results, after initial problems with my turbo not boosting, I found it must have been a leaking boost pipe. It all works fine but it relatively quiet. Iam going to blank off each one just to make sure they are both working.

The Ptssshhh sounds is very quick not like my previous 4 cylinder BOV.

Mine are twin piston Bailey type. I know you use these for cars with air flow meters and the Esprit doesn't have one but does anyone know if this will affect the sound on a car that only needs a single piston type?

Will post pics up as soon as I get a dry day!

Hi Mike,

Hadn't really had time to check whether it's quicker between gear changes as the weather is pretty crap here. The back ends sliding all over the place in virtually every gear!

I've just fitted a set to Adrian Mugridge's S350 this morning and he's just taken his out for a test drive. He seems to think it's more responsive between gear changes.

His also works when he's stationary and revs the engine hard!

About the type of dump valve, the both Iam querying are both piston type not diaphram but you can get these in either single piston or twin piston. I just wanted to know exactly how each worked and what differences they have?

It's a worth while modification as it protects the turbo. If it really does make any difference between gear changes then it will be a bonus.

Yes indeed, I've now got my pair on.

Today is teh first day that the roads have been dry since I had sports cats fitted and also the waste gate capules replaces. So, having 3 things changed at once it's impossible to tell what's changed what.

Right then, said Fred.
