Forced Air Induction

Recommended Posts

Good day everyone, I just replaced my Air filter with an K&N filter and want to redirect the air flow from the quarter window air intake directly to my Air box and by passing the other box. So instead of using two air tubes and want to use only one. My question is, how will this effect the performance of my car. Will it damage it or make the engine breath better... Thanks Felix

won't damage it, that turbo shifts so much air as it is, you'd have to be moving at serious mph. I find that mid really useful to hear when the turbo is spooling so you can moderate the throttle in corners and so on without risk of the back end flying out, it's like a small audable reminder that the turbo I'd about to kick in.

When I tried to do my intake pipe mod, I noticed that the long section was already cut into two sections (someone had tried the mod before and perhaps didn't like the extra noise... Sometimes the extra noise can be a little irritating... not quite as civilised as the original).

Anyway, I joined the short pipe to one of the halves of the long pipe using the existing jubilee clips. This proved to be perfect, because..

1) The pipe was not too long and not too short

2) The split in the middle of the pipe allowed for better flexibility (sometimes twisting the pipe through a great angle to fit onto the inlet and outlet can crimp the pipe)

Hope this makes sense.

Cheers.

Ian.
